Unhappy New ILX Defective From Factory..HELP!!

Hey everyone.

Today I went to my local Acura dealer to accompany a family member buying a 2013 New ILX w/ Tech.

The drive to our home was smooth and a wonderful vehicle. (I drive a 2010 TL)

We pulled in the garage and sat in the vehicle with the car running. (door was open of course)

As I was helping them program the settings I heard a loud bang.

I cut the ignition immediately and jumped out to see what happened.

I found a burning hot spring with a plastic retainer type object. (see image below)

She was very upset and I contacted the dealer. They were closing till Monday but were very helpful and delivered a loaner car to our home.

The manager was accompanied by a service tech to check out the car.

The tech looked at the part and was unsure what they exactly were.

He drove the vehicle out back to the dealer.

We are unsure if he got stuck on his way back.

We are waiting until Monday to see what the issue is as the dealer is closed for the weekend. How convenient as I have a service apt. for my 2010 TL.

I came on here to see if any of you may recognize the part or may have an idea of what the hell happened. It's a brand new car!!

Thanks in Advance Everyone!!

First glance I would say Parking Brake cable and spring...

Sounds like the dealer is willing to work with you though to get it all fixed.

sorry to hear that.

Where did you find the spring? Towards the front of the car?

i definitely heard the bang.

The passenger felt the bang from partially under the seat to the middle of the floor.

It's odd to me because she had never touched the e-brake whatsoever.

Could the spring have somehow shot out without touching the e-brake?

Possibly a manufacture defect?

I just got back from the dealer this morning.

I had an existing appointment to replace a defective grille & synthetic oil change on the 2010 TL.

The dealer thoroughly inspected the vehicle and determined the parts were from some tool used during the assembly process that had broken.

He took the car apart and verified nothing was broken, dented, or scratched.

My family member will be picking up the vehicle tomorrow.

Thanks to everyone for your replies!! I really appreciate it!

Wow, glad nothing was wrong. I share the same experience of something fucking up the first day I brought my ilx home. Except I had to take it back the next morning on a tow truck because the transmission blew on the freeway.

I doubt the dealer "took the car apart". I recommend putting it on a lift and checking things out yourself.
