Sup guys, this is my very first new car and own purchase. Im 18, Just graduated high school this year, full time college student at MT.SAC and part time job at UPS. I've had some pretty bad luck with my past cars all from craigslist Lol.
My first car
1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse GST
Traded it on craigslist because i wanted stickshift,
2000 Honda Civic EX
After i graduated high school, saved $500 from graduation money and traded it for an integra on craigslist.
(My turn signal lamps fell because i forgot to screw it back on that day)
New wheels, dr-54 traded because i needed new tires and the previous tires i was running were custom barreled steelies that were rubbing way too much fucking up my fender.
Plasti dipped it white because i needed to sell it figured the market price would go up? Lol
My rack and pinion was busted and i had save $200 for my birthday money to take it to a mechanic and diagnose the problem for my high speed steering wheel shaking and said it was the tie rods so i spent $200 on the wrong repair it turned out to be the rack and pinion itself.
Dont drive your only car when your rack and pinion is busted and new tie rods were installed and youre a broke high school student with no job and cant even get an alignment
Needed to trade my car because fall semester was going to start and i needed a car to get me to school.
1997 Honda Prelude
By far i hate this car, has gave me the most problems and the most expenses. Burnt clutch, Rack and pinion also messed up, Expenses invested about $1100 in this to atleast make it run.
Last month has been horrible bad luck, my car burned oil crazy I mean for 170k miles as expected but it was bad i didnt even hit vtec for 2months still kept burning oil, i had to change oil in like 2 weeks. Every week was a new problem and consisted of my car breaking down, catching an electrical fire, and hitting debri on the freeway.
The story is, planning to buy a used car at Weir Canyon Acura, it was a 2006 Honda Civic Si for $12,995
For 5 1/2 years, $300 a month, $500 trade in from my prelude plus $500 extra for a total down of $1000 down payment on 18% APR. It had 70k miles and navigation.
OR Lease a 2015 ILX 3 Year for $340 and 0 down payment but trade in for the prelude.
I think it was obvious choice, i didnt want to take the risk with used cars and $40 dollar margin i could do it for a new car. So i did it.
Promise ill take better pictures but ive been so busy with work, UPS is crazy during december.
Solid choice. Im gonna give some money commentary. I would not recommend leasing for most people, HOWEVER - you are actually a good candidate for a couple reasons - 1) your age - you PROBABLY have zero/low credit history, you would get raped on finance charges. Even on that used SI, which wouldve been a decent choice - but 18% interest? Leases are generally locked in at very low interest. 2) Leasing will actually give you financial history, so then if you want to buy the car after (highly recommend {moneywise} if you like the car and it fits your needs at that time), a loan will be at a much better rate then the ridiculous 18% you were offered for the SI. 3) if you dont want the car, (again, hopefully because its not right for you anymore, not just because you want a new car), then again, the loan rates for whatever other car DOES fit your needs will be lower interest. IMO this is a great car for a young guy - since you're 18, if you like it, Id recommend (again, moneywise) keeping it for around 10 years. Its what the money advisors all recommend, id say all the reasons, but thats a whole 'nother thread. But if money is not a concern later on, do what ya want mang.
That's crazy! I guess you should really know what you like by now...
Yes, im in love with the ILX.

Could not have been any more on point my man, Thanks great advice. This was actually perfect for me, you have to start somewhere. Trying to build your credit from the ground up the lease was perfect for me and for my age. Also the car happen to be perfect for me as well. By the end of this lease, I will be graduating, receiving my bachelor degree in computer science (crossing fingers), I have my eye on the new generation STi which happens to be my ultimate dream car. But if i do stay with the ilx either way ill be happy.

Nothing like a new car and peace of mind.
Enjoy the new car smell and everything
Very true my man did not want to take the risk, the honda civic si was a solid car but then again used and some mileage. But my history with used cars always bites me in the ass Lol so i went new car all the way.
Not yet. Still on the h&r springs currently.
I have some coilovers from ISC sitting in my garage waiting for ISC to send me new front lower brackets. The ones they sent don't fit the oem bolts. Wait time is about 3 weeks.
You've had some pretty fun cars in your ownership history. I think you'll really like the ILX. Welcome to the family and keep the pics/updates coming.
Thanks my man, It's weird driving other cars after driving mine, hands down i love driving my ilx and only it Lol.
My past cars, my 1996 integra rs, no ac power steering,b18 gsr and tranny swap was my favorite and wish i never got rid of it but i upgraded to an ilx which was perfect.
Next week installing mods:
Tein lowering springs (
Going to look good! If you are interested in spacers I have some by GarageLine. 20mm, one pair, I'll sell for $75 shipped. They go for $110 I believe.
I didn't use them for long. You can see in my thread when I put them on and I couldn't use them once I got new wheels as my new wheels are an off drill pattern which doesn't have the same space our OEM wheels had.
OP you should check out #iecarmeets. There's a Car Meet today at 5 pm at K1 Speed by Ontario Mills. You stated that you go to MT. SAC, so you are semi local

Cool ill keep it in mind, i just bought some new wheels so im hoping i wont be needing spacers for the look im going for.
Update: I got bit in the ass pretty hard. Regret ever buying these mods to my car after one week Lol, i got laid off from my work so i had to do all necessary, so i returned the rims back and lost about $150, the springs i am trying to sell cant return those back, and I have a 06 cs1 sti lip that i need to get rid of as well!
We promise it'll be hard as hell and we'll treat you like shit. But it'll be worth it. You get back what you put in. Post 9/11 gi bill pays for your school, AND gives you money to live off of.
If that doesn't sound too appealing, try Navy, Coast Guard or Air Force. Its way, (generally) way, easier, unless you become a SEAL or something crazy like tha. If you just want the college money, sign up for a desk job in one of those 3 services. Cake walk.

Well considered even end of high school but I'm one year now in college so I might as well just finish it.
I did get my job back but was moved to a different area which is fucking hell, but I'm planning to quit and join in n out
Updated mods:
Keeping fully stock and now
18% Front Carbon Tint
5% Rear Carbon Tint
My lip fell off, my girlfriend put the handbrake down and it rolled into the front curb smashing the lip Lol.
Now purely stock for the rest of its ownership.
I got these tinted at AccutintPro located at Upland from researching yelp reviews 5stars from about 200 ratings, although there is one air bubble in the rear windows. I believe there suntek carbon technology tint with 18% front and 5% rear.
Yeah eventually I will, they are JWL and VIA certified but those sizes are only available.
I think i should get an alignment i dont know i cruise at 80mph and then i have to hold the steering wheel more than usual but thats normal when lowering any car.
