LKAS and Road Departure Mitigation (RDM)

Hello. I have a 2019 ILX Premium. My question relates to the operation of the RDM and the LKAS. Whenever I activate the RDM (push button on dash), the LKAS also activates even though I have not turned it on with the steering wheel controls. There are no lane lines in the multifunction display but if I drift over the center line the steering wheel shakes and a message appears that I am out of my lane. My objective is to have the RDM active without the LKAS. Before I schedule an appointment with the dealer service dept I thought I’d post my question here for any advice.

Thanks.

That's not the LKAS you're experiencing. If you cross a lane line, that's simply the RDM at work. LKAS is the where it automatically keeps you within the lane lines. I personally think it doesn't work very well and you end up with a "ping-pong" effect. Plus, after about 5 seconds, you have to put your hand on the wheel. I'd rather just steer myself.
