Smooth roads and warm temperatures will make it slightly more difficult to experiences the noises as frequently.

My car is at the dealer AGAIN for this same reason (shocks/strut suspension noise). This time, area corporate rep and dealer service director are test driving it together and will have a plan/solution for me by end of day today/tomorrow.

I doubt they'll come up with any solution, especially if you've had it in multiple time already. I'm sure Acura is aware of the problem by now if it's as widespread as it seems. A solution is probably in the works, but i wouldn't expect a solution for quite a while though. The engineering team will need time to assess the situation, come up with a new design or new part, then that'll all need approval (which is probably the longest part).

Hang in there man, I feel ya. Hopefully the area rep can compensate you for your time in some way.

Any updates from anyone?

Unbelievable Acura is considering the "loud thump" NORMAL, according to my service director.

Sorry, nothing. I sent an email saying I indeed have the sound but haven't heard anything back on it.

Just called customer relations again since I last called in January in-order to follow up and see if there has been any progress made regarding a new part or what not. Apparently, they have made ZERO progress on this "thud" noise and based on the clueless and obnoxiously confident rep, they are supposedly saying this noise that hundreds if not thousands of people are experiencing is "NORMAL". HAHA, what a JOKE Acura is.

NEVER again!

^^ I wish I could help but we simply don't have this issue. Spoke to our service rep and none in our district have talked about this either (our district is LA/Sacramento so we're not that cold).

That's strange. I hear it regardless of temperature. I have heard of plenty of cases in this area where people are experiencing this.

Can you find out if the 2014 models, which went on sale today have the same rear strut/damper part #'s as do the 2013's? If so, that would be great. Thanks.

Ladies and Gentlemen, it has been confirmed to me, that the part #'s on the 2014 ILX's rear shocks/dampers are DIFFERENT than what they are on the 2013's. Possibly even the front, but I didn't inquire about those.

Acura, since there is NOOO problem with the 2013 suspension, and it is considered "NORMAL", why have they been changed then??

I would definitely raise the point up...wonder if any of the forum moderators have connections to Acura. Could we file a class action.

I have not heard the noise either. Soon nearing 4,xxx miles. I live in the LA area too.

Keep us updated if they do any changes and I'll "hear the noise" too.

In all of our ILX clients, I know of one that has had repeated suspension noise issues. I believe we've replaced her strut(s) 2-3 times, but unsure of which ones. She described it as a loud thunking/thud noise "instead of absorbing a bump like you'd expect it to". We kept the car for a week the last time, for inspection, and believe it is now fine. She did say the loaner ILX's we gave her were different and quieter/smoother as she expected.

Seems to be hit or miss, and abnormal.

Good to know. I now have about 1000 miles on my ILX live in Vegas, warm great smooth roads. Took a 600 mile road trip to San Diego, warm nice roads, a few bumps. Going to KC Missouri at Thanksgiving, bad roads cold guess I will find out then if I have any problems, because with smooth roads a warm weather my ILX is great.

Everytime I take mine in for the same noise, the dealership does jack squat.

It's hard to say, as Acura will direct what can or should be changed, corrected or replaced, as it is Acura warranty paying for and researching issues.

Is the noise mostly from the rear or front of the ILX? It has been a while, and I am unsure which.

I hear it from the front passenger seat.

Btw. While I was making a U-turn yesterday I began hearing a slight ticking noise coming from the car. Usually my music's on, but I had just finished a phone call. Is that normal?
Then again, I had just driven back from attending Sungod at San Diego which is about 120 miles from where I live. Not sure if that affects anything

Here's an article from the reviews section where the guys at automag had the same problem and they replaced their shocks.

http://www.automobilemag.com/reviews...bruary_update/

All I can say is let them see this article and see what happens or contact automag and see if they can help you.

I'm thinking about trading in my 08 accord coupe for the ILX but that whole shock problem is making me have second thoughts myself.

They (Acura) is fully aware of this "article". They don't care. They are saying the noise is "NORMAL" which is a complete joke. They should be embarrassed.

Did you guys read the whole article?
They called acura who had them replace the shocks under warranty.
So call acura and replace the shocks under warranty? No.

If it were me, I wouldn't give up. I'd try a different Acura dealership with better personnel if I had to.

Haha, been there done that. If you take a look down below, you will see that I had them replaced and the same thing is happening. I've even tested a new 2013 on the lot and same thing.

Appears its the particular part# that is causing the issue.

As I've indicated, the 2014 models have a different part#. I am in the process of swapping them out for those in order to see if that would finally solve the ridiculous noise.

Acura ia always good about recalls. They do recalls even without customer complains for non safety issues.

Keep going back to the dealer you bought the car from and if they aren't willing to fix tell them you will hire a lawyer because they are violating the terms of your warranty where they claim they will fix any maintance issues for the first however many miles. See what they say. If they call your bluff then either you're stuck with a lemon or indeed call an automotive lawyer and see if you have a case. Sounds like youd have plenty of ilx owners to back you.

Lets try to narrow the issue down.

Is anyone experiencing this thud sound on a hybrid or 2.0l?

I have a 2.4 ILX and havent heard this THUD or THICKING noise yet. Hopefully I wont get to hear this noise or am I just immune because my old car had bad suspension?

It's definitely the shocks, I only REALLY know for sure my shocks are making the sound because I can hear it going over those really big speed bumps. The speed bumps that are like a big hump, instead of one quick bump... I can hear them compressing and it sounds pretty awful lol.. I wonder if that attributes to how unpredictable the suspension is for me.

Could this sound not only be annoying but also affecting how the rear suspension performs.

definitely a plausible reason for why the car floats...you can feel the back end shimmy across the road.

bastards.. Coilovers are bit further out for me than I had originally intended.. I wonder if it would be worth the fix for temporary to get the 2014 shocks for the rear

What source are you getting your info from that the 2014 are different parts and are a fix for the 2013 model year?

I didn't confirm that they're a fix but they're different parts numbers.. just goto any Acura part dealer.. The 2013 ends in like A05 and the 2014 ends in A06

I am aware that they are different. My car is currently at the dealer getting the swap done.

Was just curious who or what your source was.
