Help '13 ilx prem
Help '13 ilx prem
I gotta '13 ilx with premium and 24k miles
I just wanna go faster
maybe forced induction but I'm prepared to at least go intake, downpipe, headers, and a tune.
BUT should I tune first then add bolt ons and update tune or bolt on first then tune. Is it purely my option or is there a correct way to do it. Also, is there any kinda tuner I can get WITHOUT using a laptop. Like a plug and play from the store or whatever. I think ifI can find that then I'd do that first just to see how I like it. If I like just the tune only enough then I can focus on aesthetics. I'm in middle Tennessee so any help would be greatly appreciated.
thanks in advance

There are many things you can do with a car but you have to have the right platform for the job. ILX is fun daily driver with a sporty feel. Its not fast in a straight line with just bolt ons. You can boost them and have alot of fun with the car but its very expensive. Bolt ons, lsd, brakes and a good suspension set up is a good formula to have some fun at a road course track.
My ‘13 2.4L was running 172whp stock, and ran 198whp with a catted downpipe, cold air intake and flashpro tune. Your best bet is a Kraftwerks supercharger or full race turbo.
I think you only have these options with the 2.4L though. If you have a 2.0L I would maybe consider riding it out in your car long enough to be ready for your next car. Consider something with a big aftermarket. Civic Si, Subaru WRX, Mazda Speed 3

My 2.4 L Dynamic was just a little more tuned than Trentimus. I believe mine was running with about the right amount of power, however out of the 2.0 L engine with an automatic transmission you have less cheaper options to gain 20-30 extra ponies. Your only option that would work would be forced induction = Turbo or supercharger. There are tones of mods for the car, but performance is a little limited especially in the 2.0 liter.
Doing the same amount of mods on your 2.0 L, I would estimate only 10-15 HP gain, which is not that much for all those mods and cost. However that being said, if you still want to tune your car without using a laptop you can always remove the vehicle computer and ship it to Hondata Flashpro and they will do it - Honestly tho it is better to just buy the tool and use a laptop that way you can change the mods take it on and off, as well as remove it and sell it if you don't like it or use it on a future Honda car for yourself.
