Full Race Exhaust
Full Race Exhaust
I know theres already threads about this subject so not looking to start a discussion just wondering has anyone actually put a full race setup(Honda 9th Gen Civic Si 3" Exhaust System 2012-2013) on their car yet? I called them directly and they would not confirm it will work with the ilx. Im wanting to buy it but would like confirmation first.....thanks
Here's what I can say for sure - if a company says something like "2012-2013 Civic Si/13+ Acura ILX" OR its the same exact part number for the Acura and the Honda - this will not fit the ILX without either cutting the bumper OR modifying the exhaust so that the tailpipe shoots below the bumper.
You still didn't need to make an entire thread for one question. Look for an exhaust thread and post the question there. The reason you see I or anyone else tell someone to search is because we dont need the extra threads.
But not that one has been created Ill answer your question.
The manual 2.4 ILX has literally the same exhaust set up as the 2012 SI. The Intake Manifold position and bolt pattern is identical. The placement of the axleback and mid section is identical.
For a 2.0 ILX, it is identical to the 1.8l civics.
So yes, a 2012 civic SI fullrace exhaust will fit a 2.4 MT ILX minus the rear bumper.

Gotcha - well in that case, once the bumper is cut All Exhaust systems made for the 2013 Civic Si Sedan will fit your ILX (you do have the 2.4L I am assuming). Aside from the bumper there are no differences that have ever been mentioned - just make sure you buy the sedan version
The Borla Cat-Back made for the 2012-2013 Civic Si Sedan actually states that it will fit the ILX with "Bumper Trimming". If the Borla fits, they all should.
I am actually going to swap out my RV6 header/cat-back for the Full Race 3" system here soon. Good system, lots of room for growth

^^^ The borla catback would be a GREAT exhaust for any 2.4 owner.
Looks great, sounds great on the SI and I dont think you even need to trim the bumper if you take an alternative route.
You can buy 2 extended exhaust hangers OR have a local welder cut the hangers or just weld maybe a 1.5in extension. The exhaust uses a mid muffler design with no rear muffler so hanging down the extra 1.5in wont mean much at all with the straight pipe.

Thanks for the great info its greatly appreciated, and yes I have the 2.4l. Im pretty sure Im going to go with the full race setup. Also @usdmJon aka Acurazine police sorry for not posting on previously made threads and junking up your page haha

Well I for one am very excited that someone is taking the 3 inch exhaust route. Thats where the power is for the K24 people!. Look at the 8th and 9th Gen forums! the info/dynos are out there! Although I am somewhat of a hypocrite. I am going 2.5 inch, only because I am getting a free catback. Another thing to consider - the 3inch will be louder. Heard the full race in person - SUPER loud! Depending on local laws, or personal preference, that may not work for you. If power gain is your main concern go 3inch - whether its pre made (full race, etc) or custom. (custom is probably louder)
And I believe small tweaks are needed for most pre made exhausts like the full race - whether that is bumper trimming, or longer exhaust hangers. If you are mechanically inclined, these are things you can still easily do yourself.
My rusty big an clunky old down pipe next to my clean compact an sexy Full Race down pipe
Ill do a write up on the install of the down pipe and the complete exhaust in a week or so

Yeah I lined out the pipes under the car and it will be an easy install (exhaust pipes that is, the down pipe is already in) just cant decide the shape I want to cut out of my bumper...Did you have a shop do it for you or did you dare it yourself?
It try to copy the shape of the exhaust. Maybe measure the tip and make a cardboard cut out of the size of the tip.
Then I'd make the cut saaaay half an inch from the piping.
Hardest part I think will be figuring out how high the cut should go... I can't think of an easy way to eye ball that. I'd say just cut to about 2 inches from the bottom of the bumper then see if that was enough. Go a little at a time. It'll be time consuming but it should turn out good.
Good luck dude!! Can't wait to see it.
Has anyone else installed their exhaust themselves or will this full race be the first one installed out of a shop?

No one had said anything on the 9th gen forums about how large the muffler is on this system. Picture does not do it justice, the thing is a fucking beast.
xdtownx - How much larger than stock was it?

Use this door trim around the exhaust cut out

It doesn't have to be chrome but I think it would look good. I actually saw something similar on a Volvo or something with similar set up so I think it will look nice. Can't be paint to match body color and I believe they do come in different color as well
