DIY Lip Kit Installation?

So… the ILX lip kit that I ordered was delivered today and in the instructions it highly recommends that it be installed by a professional not a "do-it-yourselfer" (direct quote).

I've installed things like gauges and custom headlights on my previous vehicle, but have not undertaken a lip kit before… should I risk it? I'm going to call Acura tomorrow to see how many hours it would take for them to put it on and get an estimate… any thoughts would be appreciated.

DIY always if possible, IMO at least....but I like doing things myself so my opinion may be impartial.

Yeah… I'm the same way… but hesitated when I saw all the pieces for the side skirts…

I love em. I know H&R advertises a lower drop but this is my daily and I live in the middle of nowhere country Texas where the roads are horrible at best so the drop I get from em is perfect for me an the ride is just as good as cars I've been in with h&rs

I would like to lower mine, but the roads are pretty rough here year-round (brutal snow in the winter, potholes everywhere in the summer), so I would prefer a modest drop instead of an extreme one.

Do you find that the ride quality has been affected? I'm assuming you kept the stock struts? Did you get a camber kit or is your tire wear showing signs of the modification?

Its a little bit stiffer but nothing drastic...yes I kept stock struts and no camber kit, no signs of abnormal wear to my tires(also still stock).

I am on H&Rs, I believe I was the second to get H&Rs and the third to lower the ILX in general. I havent heard from (nor remember whom) the guys that lowered their ILX before me.
But I will say there IS noticeable camber wear. I have not gone in for an alignment.
My front wheels are perfect. The rears have some slight camber wear so you may want a camber kit if you arent willing to deal with that.

And if I remember correctly, H&R was about a 1.5 in drop. Eibach and tein being about 1.2 and skunk being the lowest spring drop at like 1.8 maybe.
