Comparison to a 2000 TL

Will likely be in the market in the not too distant future & the ILX has caught my eye.

Curious if anyone can compare it (6MT 2.4 ILX) to a 2000 TL? That's what I'm in now & happy with it, though I'd like a few more MPGs (though averaging 26mpg on a TL with 205k on it isn't bad).

Thanks

Stopped by the local Acura dealer to check out the ILX in person yesterday.
Seems about the same at my TL as far as interior space. Definitely wasn't disappointed with the acceleration on the 6MT2.4.

Ride quality & road noise didn't seem that bad, compared to some of the reviews I've read. Steering is lighter than my TL, but not too light. Definitely feels sportier than my 13 year old TL.

Really want one now, shouldn't have went & driven it
Gotta figure out if I'll trade in my TL or try to sell it myself. Depends on how they appraise it. Probably won't be for a few months at the earliest. Mostly went to see how it drove & see one in person. Gotta sell the wife on it, too.

I guess you cant edit previous posts.

Also wanted to add, that I'm 6'0" & with the driver's seat comfortable for me, I still had plenty of legroom in the back seat. So, that's a plus over my TL. Comfortable for me in the TL, leaves the back seat a little lacking in legroom.

I also didn't notice the low ceiling that I've read in reviews. I never got the feeling that the top of my head was close to rubbing, nor that the meeting of the A-pillar & roof causes a slight "blind-spot". Although, I only drove it about 10 miles on the freeway.

When we get close to buying I want to map out a few twistier roads & see how it handles that.

I've done a lot of reading/research so far (& reading on Tyson's blog) on the ILX. Most of the reviews seem good, but I didn't share some of their criticisms on the car.

I didn't push it too hard when I test drove it. Let it get nice & warmed up & ran it up when getting on the highway, but no rough/hard/powershifts.

I definitely like the little more engine noise you get in the ILX compared to my TL. Gives it a bit more of a sporty feel IMO, without being too intrusive/obnoxious. Didn't really notice an audible VTEC changeover, but I wasn't really listening for it.

Agreed. A lot of people just talk smack about the car, without seeing it in person or driving it themselves.

Very happy with my 1 week old 6 speed.
