I JUST left the house and had my key on the roof, now it is gone and I am being told 300-500$ to replace/program but I see used FOBS for around $75. If I buy the correct FOB can I program it so I don't have to pay $300+?

Unless you have an HDS or equivalent device, you won't be able to program it. Some locksmiths do, i'd get a quote around to see how much they would charge for programming.

 

How do I know if I have an HDS or equivalent device? The link I posted says it is OEM factory new for the 2016 ILX. so I would just have to pay to have it programmed? I cannot do that myself? Thank you

Yes you need to have the key fob and key programmed to the ECU

 

Thank you. I ordered the key and will try and find a local locksmith for pricing. Acura said 130, so who knows

 

buy a used key off ebay and have a local shop program it had mine done for 130$ total with key.
