Buying a new 2016 WBP ILX Tech plus A-spec!
Well I'm trading in my 2014 Civic Si Sedan black crystal pearl without navigation with 13,500 miles and my trade in value is $18,500.. I know it should have been $19G but that was the best I could get with the USAA discount.. I drove manual for years and I'm finally ready to go to a automatic. This will be my first Acura. I'm getting the white bellanova pearl 2016 ILX tech plus with A-spec for $34,057 with USAA pricing. I'm excited! I think this is a good price considering the stuff i'm getting with the car. I'm a 29 year old male ready to be in the luxury segment. Do you guys think this is a good deal?
Congrats! At the end of the day, YOU have to think it's a good deal. I haven't seen too many people post about buying the 2016, so there's not too much to compare to when talking about price. Check out this thread for more:

^^ Congrats on your ILX! That will be a fun little car and welcome to the Acura family!
I am surprised it's that expensive as the quote I was given for shipping my car from the dealer which is 4h from where I live was 250$ + tax ... and this is Canada where we pay 10X more for everything!

Im gonna be honest, it might come off as me being a dick, but hey, thats not my intention. Just the cold hard truth.
FUCK NO, HELL NO, that is NOT a good deal dude. I got my ILX for $21,500 through USAA as well. For that much, you should be getting a loaded TLX at minimum.
A-spec kit is honestly a waste of money. ABORT MISSION. Check various dealers. YOU ARE NOT getting the best deal possible. IF you are OK with what you are paying, thats your discretion, but TRUST ME, you can get more car for less money.

OP congratz
Great car!!! I've had it for 3 weeks now and I love it......0 complaints, maybe 1 - when you hit some bumps you can feel it slightly, but it's a smaller car so I'm pretty sure that's normal
I had a 2014 chevy impala, which I also loved. But it was time for a smaller car, I didn't need that anymore.
I got the premium package, 30k, it comes with damn near everything except the aspec rims and the fog lights.
This car is quick, you can pretty much fly past anyone in it, I like to drive fast. Sport mode is awesome, the transmission is excellent quick responses while shifting, you can hear the engine rev it sounds great
this is also my first Acura, and I'm impressed

I wanted the a-spec because of the look. I went shopping at 5 different dealerships and one gave me that price above.
I test drove both. The TLX is too big for me. So I opted for the maxed out ILX.
Don't worry about what he's saying. He's probably talking about 2013-2015 Acura ILX, which had thousands of dollars incentive from Acura. There are people who doesn't like 2016, because it has 8 speed dct instead of 6 speed, and tries to bash 2016 in every way possible.
Congrats on your new car!

Thanks for your reply. But I never seen the 2016 ILX going on sale for $21,500. My friend in Hawaii works at acura and he can't even go close to the price I'm getting above with all those included packages. I wanted the navigation and everything before I go back home to Hawaii to be stationed there. I'm in Georgia right now.

Thanks guys. I will be moving to South Korea in a month and I will take this 2016 Acura ILX with me since I am not allowed to store a vehicle in government storage. However they will allow me to take my car. I plan to just drive the car on base and I don't plan to take it around South Korea since the drivers there are not very good. I plan to just drive from the Air Force Base to Seoul Korea to my dads house in Seoul Korea. I will be in Korea for one year and after that they will send me back home to Hawaii at Hickam Air Force Base. Now my question is, how often do you have to service the Acura ILX?
^The ILX will be similar to any other car, I think the general auto standard is x amount of miles (not exactly sure on the new ILX, maybe every 10k) or once a year, but I'm sure you could safely push that timeframe quite a bit, maybe just get it serviced right before you leave the country?

Also getting a smaller sedan, yet very safe car in the ILX, not a bad choice. Especiqlly in Korea. The rumors are very true. More car for the money is also dependent on perspective. I feel peace of mind/ how confident you are in the brand quality, is also a legit deal breaker or maker. The fact you are in the military and most likey a nurse officer making base officer pay and special nursepay/bouses, and now will also make COLA pay in Korea, you can easily afford this car. ILX is a great car so far, im sure you willl enjoy your new ride.
One possible reason for new pricing and no deas is jewel eyes?.... Just speculation, but i know they are insanely expensive.
***Replied from phone terrible spelling because of texting keyboard.
Also the guy that mentioned the package he got for 30k seems to be the better deal on maxed out packages.. He only doesnt get fogs and OEM apsec wheels? You could pay a shop to paint them in a same design for way cheaper, or buy way nicer aftermarket wheel and tire packages. Also pay a dealer or even cheaper pay a shop to install OEM or aftermarket fogs after the fact.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I plan to live off base since they gave me an option based on availability on base, but if I have to live on base, then I'd have no choice. I'll probably drive this car no more than 8,000 miles in a year since I don't plan on driving to Seoul everyday. The living quarters off base is pretty close, about a 10-15 minute drive. I'm not sure if its a good idea to go out on the weekends in downtown seoul with this car since its so crowded there. But then again, my dad lives in Seoul so I may be able to park the car there and go out for the day/night via taxi/subway.
I guess my fear is the SK nationals may see the acura emblem and know I'm not a korean national and figure I'm military and mess with my car in downtown seoul. I've never experienced that myself since I've never driven there before but thats just my fears.
Also, I found a Korean Honda dealership and my Acura dealership says I can get it serviced at any honda dealer including in Korea, but for warranty repairs, may need to be seen by a USA acura dealer since Korea does not have Acura, only Honda, as in Japan and Europe. I'm crossing fingers there will be NO warranty repairs required for this awesome car.
Well some quick reviews so far of driving 150 miles from starting 7 miles. I'm coming from a 2004 toyota tacoma double cab v6 as my first ride. I've leased a 2012 mercedes c250, 2013 BMW 335i. Both cars were fun, the 335i was a beast, but they're SUPER expensive to maintain. I looked at the service repairs on these cars under warranty of what it would have costed me and I was amazed. So I jumped back to honda civic SI and boy it was a fun car and cheap to maintain. I never had problems all the way to 15,000 miles, which was when I traded it in for this new ILX. My sister leased the 2014 ILX and the ride is quiet, but after test driving the 2016 ILX, I was amazed by how quiet it was. I was tired driving the SI as I was driving a lot to Atlanta and for my preference, I wanted a simple, affordable, quiet, luxury car again within a reasonable price that also has a very reliable car brand history. Lexus was too expensive and from reviews and ratings, I saw Acura was the best value and reliable luxury car compared to lexus.
After 1.5 months of going back and forth to the dealership to test drive the TLX and ILX, I knew the ILX was for me since I liked the size of the civic SI interior. Transmission on the ILX is awesome, smooth, and ride is quiet and smooth! I can hear the exhaust tone when I give it more gas, but its a pleasant growl. Don't get me wrong, I loved the Civic SI sedan, but I felt it was time for me to move on up and go back to luxury cars. Since I wanted to buy a luxury car, I decided on Acura.

Congratulations on your recent purchase. I also just purchased this vehicle in graphite luster. The ILX with Tech Plus + Aspec seems to be quite rare in my buying experience. I was only able to find 2 in the whole Houston area. This has pretty much made it a sellers market. I was able to negotiate down to $34,000 with some work of visiting multiple dealerships, so I think that USAA got you an awesome deal. I hope you enjoy it!
Tech package looks really nice man. I'm a big fan of white on this car. the I-MID seems to be a bit updated as well. Plus nice jewel eyes.
I would really recommend you avoid driving your POV off base as much as possible, just as a general rule. #becauseSouthKorea ... And really avoid driving off base at night. Just use cabs, they are plentiful. Sounds like you bought the right car for you. Enjoy!

Thanks
Thanks! I'll take your advice and drive my POV mainly on base and to drive to my dads house. I won't take it out at night. I'll just take taxi, bus, subway.
Now I got the First Place Finish car care system from the dealer. The paperwork says the company covers my vehicle for 5 years of used as directed. It also says the car care product kit should last 3 years. Anyone had any good experience with this? The dealer didn't charge me to this product. It's my first time having lux suede leather as seats. Can I use this car care product for the suede leather?

First Place Finish is just a dealer added product that is like a wax/sealant. Aerospace 303 would probably work better on the interior. A good sealant wax would also probably do just as well on the outside. Usually First Place Finish just= Dealer Added Profit, so good thing you did not get charged for it.
Waxes and sealants only work if you use them. So if you keep up on it, im sure it will work great. Its like an oil change, or any basic maintenace. The correct service interval and upkeep is actually more important then the individual oil/wax used (as long as they are good to begin with, obviously you cant compare a low end product to high end).
Use as directed, im sure it willl shine.
As far as leather, im not sure if your seats are perforated leather. Mine are. I looked for a specific product that mentioned it was safe for perforated leather, because some products did warn about not using their product on it. I found a Meguiar's product Im happy with.
** try calling or emailing the company to make sure its safe on your leather. Your car has suede leather? Interesting.... Another update.

I would say the handling compared the the 2014 Civic SI sedan and BMW 335i is different. The steering wheel feels slightly numb compared to the BMW and the civic SI. With the BMW, in sport mode particularly, I felt everything on the road since the suspension stiffened up. In normal or eco mode on the BMW, the steering felt like in the middle between numb and connected. The civic SI sedan was definitely fun to drive, but since i'm 29 years old, I "felt" like I was revving high all the time coming to work and driving around. It was definitely an enthusiast's car, but I just got tired of the high rev noise overtime and driving manual in traffic in Atlanta sucked. The Acura ILX is also fun to drive when you want to use the paddle shifters and put it in sequential shifting mode. Of course, it doesn't beat the civic SI in fun, but its fun enough for me. The BMW was out of this world, but at a significant cost that was not worth it to me anymore in the long-term. I wanted something economical, fun to drive, reliable, not to crazy to maintain, quiet, and comfortable. Now I can listen to great music in my ILX with the ELS sound system after a hard day of work. My trial XM radio plays the EDM music I like when I feel like it.

I would say that you could take it on to curvy roads and do well with it. It certainly won't do well when you're trying to make turns that will potentially make a drift. Otherwise this will be a good car to take up curvy roads of the coast of California.
I haven't taken it up in curvy roads myself tho. I'm going to try when I get the chance!

I would say test drive both. See which one you like better. In my opinion, you'll thank yourself for getting a new 2016 ILX with the tech features. You'll get more for the money than the BMW I can guarantee you that. If you don't care about a new car and the tech features and only care about the driving experience, then the BMW would be good. In the end, think about the maintenance and repair costs. Becareful of BMW CPOs...BMW CPOs are only good if they're bought directly from a BMW dealership. "Certified" doesn't mean anything unless the BMW dealer has it in writing that you get the long term warranty with the car, which is what you want.
