Breaking in ILX 6MT

So my car will be here tomorrow guys

What do you recommend for the breaking period ?

I heard to baby it for 500 miles, but then I also heard its bad to baby it.

Any suggestions ?

I'll post pictures tomorrow, hopefully getting it tinted this week as well.

My guess is it probably doesn't matter. I heard to baby it, and I did, but I doubt if it makes that big of a difference. I can't imagine babying it is bad. If so, any car sitting on a dealer lot for a month or two is getting damaged beyond all hope.

LOL worse advice ever.

I agree with princely bug tho, if you read the manual that comes with the brand new car, it would explain EVERYTHING you want to know about the break in process.

P.S. with metal clearance being A LOT tighter than of yesteryear, generally new cars dont need a lengthy break in.
My dad gave me a brand new 2010 challenger SRT8 for a month with less than 200 miles on the clock.
guess what I did?
DROVE IT LIKE I STOLE IT.
I beat the piss out of that car, for you know....TESTING purposes.
the car is still running today, stronger than ever.

P.S.S. there are special break in additives in the oil. I wouldnt change it out so quick as the young 19 year old advised...read the manual and it'll tell you when you should preform the first oil change.

From personal experience the break-in period for my 06 6MT tsx consisted of: my dealer doing a dealer tarde so that was 130 miles. I then drove the car from the dealer in Pa to my moms in NJ. That was 125 miles. I then drove the car from NJ to my home in NC. That was 635 miles. All of this was mostly highway. Must have been ok as my car has almost 147k miles
