I should of put emphasis on the fact that it looked like it was nearly impossible to get back there... I am sure Acura has to change the Cats eventually.... I don't actually imagine it would require the motor being dropped out. But you sure do lean on that Si really hard. You've talked about it several times, I really just dont see what you're getting out of the Si that is worth losing money..
I love my car...but I also need a bit more speed, hence my username. I like the honda platform, just need a car that can be modded. The ILX has presented a lot of obstacles that affected modability, namely the exhaust, this downpipe issue, lack of lsd, and suspension

It's going to happen, you'd have it installed anyways lol

It wouldn't help the part that is hard to reach is the back of the motor. Just be patient. I am taking pictures as I go and will start a thread as soon as it's read. I'll PM you so you get the email letting you know it's go time! I even took some videos.. they're on my iPhone but you can hear the growl but it does it NO justice.. this intake just sounds ridiculous under WOT at ANY RPM..

I will ask my friend what all goes into installing the DP. I just dont have a lift to really get a good look from underneath.

The car has only been out for a year or so.. You can't really expect an aftermarket to just appear. The exhaust is pretty much Civic Si parts + $20 to cut the tip and whatever it is to install by a mechanic. The downpipe isn't really an issue unless you're a DIY kinda personal and don't have special tools ect. The lack of LSD is kinda iffy. I mean I get why they took it out but I don't agree with them that it would make it more luxurious. The suspension is nice in some ways but for performance driving and on a consistency level it's pretty sub par.

I understand where you're coming from but you also haven't really tried to do anything to your car yet.. You have people willing to pioneer these things to see what fits and doesnt fit and what requires what. Give it time and you'll have options to choose from.. anyway you spin it the 2013 Civic is a drastic downgrade in my opinion.

And the ILX has more of an aftermarket than most first year cars already.. Supercharger in the 1st year? That's really unheard of on a lot of platforms outside of Mustangs and the FR-S ect.

Just be patient.. I am only kinda saying this too because you do bring up getting rid of your ILX a lot and you should really evaluate if you even like this car enough to put the work into it.

To be honest, I think it's going to follow the path of the 2nd gen tsx, that's why I'm worried about getting in too deep. That car has very little aftermarket support despite it having a relatively ubiquitous drivetrain option across the range of available options. I just didn't want to get too deep into it and have the car not be what I ended up wanting.

what isn't available though? Coilovers: Check, F/I: Check, Intake: Check, RBC option: Check, Downpipe: Check, Catbacks: Check, Swaybars: Check

I'd be intrigued if you planned on going deeper than that.

*oh and the LSD option, and big brake kits.

The only issue I am seeing is no one with an ILX is either willing/or able to lend their cars to these aftermarket companies to mule for parts... if we had more mules we would have more parts... logical.

You're right. I was just thrown off my your comment about the DP -- that's where my half joking comment came from. I truly hope it fits. And to everyone, I'm not going anywhere...watch and see. Besides, I got stay on because I have to show everyone how much better my car is going to be than yours

PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT

Sorry I should of been more light hearted about the DP.. I was more in the "F*** that I can't/won't do that much f***ing work" I was really pissed last night.. ended up getting sloppy and broke some tabs on my cowl.. but they're cheap to replace.

My car is ALREADY faster! Lolz FlashPro today

Yea, don't use the basemap. But does flashpro work? Do something simple like modify the 2 step.

Idk how to do anything on it. It runs though. The ILX stock calibration is the only one you can use besides one of your own calibrations.

Yep, intake is the only mod. Right now intake temps are 10-20 over ambient.

PM me your email

I hate to say I told you so

Fortunately, the tune will make the car drive that much better once you're done.

Vit is indeed going to get me setup with a tune til the SC gets in!

The downpipe is installed. My friend's shop did it for $75 he said they figured for anyone else $120 is a fair price to install. So if you get one and want it installed make sure it's for $120 or less.

The metal hissing sound that was audible on the Full Race exhaust clips is indeed very real. The downpipe has made that sound clear between 2500-3500 rpm at 40ish% throttle and higher. The exhaust now has more bass so it actually sounds better but the downside is more noise in the cabin for those who are sensitive to that type of thing. MUCH better throttle response now with the CAI and DP on together. The car sounds much more refined and deep. As far as faster and gas mileage goes ill report back after use.

I haven't checked my IATs and ECTs to see if there was any note able difference with the downpipe being coated. They assured me the coating though may not add horsepower directly will protect the pipe, the motor and allow for better cooling properties. So far my stock temp gauge is actually sitting a bit lower than normal but that could just be coincidence.

Any installation tips? I think maybe I'll get a catted dp and run it with the stock exhaust if you say it's made a difference. To be fair, I'm not looking for much of a noise maker and this car isn't too bad...10whp and torque is perfect...until next year...then, supercharger.

I am definitely sure it is going to gain at least 10whp, this is the best route for a quiet ride while still having the power. At cruising throttle and highway cruising its basically stock sound.

Installation tips: have proper tools and a lift.

Not really, you'd have to hear it in person. That video seems like it captures maybe 40% of the actual frequencies. There is so much bass that you don't hear it that way in person.

Without the cat will be much louder. I wouldn't recommend it if you want a quieter ride.

Mine IS catted

I will say I haven't heard it outside the car but it sounds VERY good for a four inside. It doesn't have a loud rasp or anything too it. Sounds much smoother than my friends 8th Si that had Buddy Club exhaust

Lol can't speak for the sound you're gonna get. It sounds a little different at cold start but it goes to normal after a few seconds of idle
