Just test drove one today with my gf. Its a shitty car. Might as well spend 5k more and get a TSX or 2-3K less and get an Accord.

The premium package is where it's at. I don't see many people trying to disagree with the base model not being that great.

 

I have not seen an ILX yet!! Are there are a lot of Acuras in Virginia Beach. So like you said, who would buy one when you can spend a few more and buy a tsx or a tl? Or better yet buy a used acura which is typically just as awesome!

 

I've seen one ILX in my city so far since launch and I think it was a loaner...I looked at the ILX as well but it would've been a no-brainer to take the TSX over it if you ask me.

lol, I actually came from a 2012 TSX into an ILX. It's gotta better tech, better mpgs, similar interiors, better looking dash (imo), its faster, and is smaller for easier parking. It was a no-brainer in my book. I think it's all a function of personal choice. Lol, not sure why everyone is getting so defensive.

 

Your in the ILX forum and guess what most people who are in the ILX forums look at other posts in their forum. Don't be so insulting you are giving Canadians a bad name. Nobody is knocking your choice of a fwd instead of shawd, I would never buy an fwd over the shawd but that is your choice and good for you. I didn't feel like the tsx was "fun" enough. Felt too big, despite being the 4-cylinder model. It was also a pain to park in the city because it was a bit longer. I'm inclined to smaller cars. Also, my quote that you posted has the other reasons influenced my decision.

 

It's actually funny that the op mentions spending more for the TSX. If you go on the TSX forums, a lot of people on their are saying to the the TSX owners that they shoulda spent the extra 2-3k for a TL. Honestly, I had budget, certain requirements for the car, and I stuck to it...the ILX is where I netted out, all things considered.

If I could change 1 thing, I would've wished I checked out the 2013 GLI, though I don't think it was out at the time.

Wreak you make some good points. And I had the same concerns. In fact, my wife and were close to buying a Camry hybrid XLE from atop the list. However, when we actually drove the ILX we fell in love. Plenty of power and the perfect size for city driving... I have owned it since July and actually paid it off last month with no regrets.

As for head examined, I'm hopefully going be able to go back to med school after finishing my PhD thesis so I'll probably get help there!

I appreciate your opinion and would much rather have a civil conversation in the future.

lol, who cares about the price difference. The ILX can be $5k more for all I care. In mind, the TSX only has memory seats and a better hfl interface (more voice commands). Meanwhile, the ilx:
- Reads text messages
- Has a back-up camera
- Gets better mpgs
- Is faster (I drive the MT)
- Has Keyless Entry
- Has Push Button Start
- Has 1 click, 3-blinks function on the blinker stalk
- Has a much better infotainment display
- Has hotter heat (I took my TSX in for this and test drove others, the heat would come out cool when it was on its max setting)
- Is easier to park
- Allows you to redial the last 20 people you've called (TSX was only 1)
- Has a modern looking interior (TSX looks like the Accord interior and it wasn't that nice inside)
- Stops faster
- Is fun to drive
- and, get this, makes me happy

I stand corrected on braking, but on acceleration, the ILX is faster...and it does feel quicker when driving the car around.

 

That sums up most of why I'm planning on an ILX when I'm due for a new car.
My '00 TL is coming up on 210k miles. Test drove the ILX 6MT & quite liked it.
I need 4 doors, want a manual & the ILX does everything I need it to do & I like smaller cars.

I liked the 1G TSX 6MT, but never really cared for the 2G as much.
And, I think the ILX with the grounds effects kit, looks better than the TSX.

 

^coilovers and the ground effects kit are on my to-dos.

 

Granted I didn't take many turns on the short test drive I took & traffic was building. I didn't feel like the suspension was too bad. Felt less soft/floaty than my TL.

That said, when I eventually get one, I could see it looking nice lowered a bit & a little stiffer.

 

TSX is a shitty car.
Accord is a shitty car.

Might as well spend 28k more and get an RL

I moved to an ILX from a 12-year-old Accord because the new Accords just aren't as nice IMO. The only thing I miss is the gigantic windshield on the old Accord. Provided a spectacular view of the road.
