2016 Acura ILX Rim Decay

Hello,

I just joined and may be naive if this issue has been brought up countless times, but the rims on my 2016 ILX Premium A Spec are decaying rapidly. I am unsure if this is a product defect or if it is because I live in Cleveland, Ohio (harsh terrain and winters). I have now paid to replace multiple tires on the vehicle due to poor infrastructure and am not keen on shelling out more due to a product defect. It is really unsightly and I'm pretty chill when it comes to vanity. I was involved in a accident in 2017 where two rims had to be replaced. My questions are as follows; Is this a known problem? is there somewhere I can go to address a claim for fair replacement? Could this be an issue with aftermarket parts used after the repair? I asked the dealership these same questions during regular maintenance and they, predictably, told me to go back to the body shop. Any help I can get I would greatly appreciate.

If the two rims that got replaced are showing problems, I would start there and ask the body shop to take a look. Many body shops have lifetime warranty. Also, a picture would be helpful for people to determine if it's normal wear and tear.

More than likely the wheels from the bodyshop were not new, but reconditioned used ones. More than likely they were not prepared properly before painting. Any issues with the factory wheels should be covered by the factory 4yr warranty if you are still in that period.
