2014 Crashy Suspension
Hi guys,
I am well aware of the suspension thread where alot of owners compained about suspension noise. Has anyone experienced that their ILX is VERY crashy and stiff over rough roads? This is happening at all 4 corners and it feels like it is geting worse/constant bottoming out. I love the car but this is a major concern and not sure if I can live with this as roads are not the smoothest where I live.

well, i find mine is very cushiony soft comparing it to MDX 2011 or Acura TLS 2008. if I hit the brake hard, seems the engine bay dives in like Toyota which i hate. check your tire pressure

I presume we are talking about the rear suspension noise which almost sounds like a loose spare tire banging about. I just drove the 2016 ILX and this noise is still present. We'll have to wait until the next gen ILX is produced before we see any meaningful improvements. Still a nice car.

Young maybe right rear suspension is not a good fit for the ILX. It should be stiff and when u hit a bump the wheel absorbs the shock aND suspension keeps the car straight, focused and balanced

Anyway,
I have gone ahead and stiffened up my chassis/frame with all kinds of aftermarket suspension braces/bars. I'm lowered and I'm using spacers to widen out the wheel track too, which makes this car pretty planted to the ground over stock. This is a new suspension design for Honda/Acura, and I think it has some kinks to it. I am happy with it as is, I don't really mind. If you are use to a cushier ride, then you won't be happy with this car. I can't even suggest Aftermarket shocks because they would all be geared towards sporty driving and would be a stiffer and harsher ride.
If you want, you can also look into getting some wheel spacers to widen out the wheel track and it might help. It would also make the car look better, like it has wider wheels. OR, actually get wider wheels, or fatter cushier tires. It gives you an excuse to get some good looking fun wheels for the car. Do it.
