'16 ILX in the wild
Imo, the front and rear bumper vents just take too much away from the '16 ILX to truly compare it with the TLX. If only the front vent stayed similar to the previous gen Hybrid with the chrome accent and narrow vent. The rear vent should be done away completely.

IMO, the TLX was tasked to pull elements from the 3G/4G front bumper and bring them into the new design. This dictated the shape of the grill and lower intake elements. The ILX/RDX are tasked with debuting the new design language of grill and lower intake shapes. I could see the MMC TLX morphing to match in a few years.
The ILX looks like a luxury car - gen 1 or gen 2 -, because it is a luxury car. Put it next to any Acura or Lexus and with its sexy looks, its gonna fit in. But its not FULL LUX. As in -Duh- a BMW 3 series or Lexus IS250 , or even a TLX, has a bigger roomier cabin, better interior, more luxury touches, more powerful motor, etc. MORE - I said ILX is not FULL lux. If you want a car that screams that, then this is not the car you are looking for at all. Go get what you want somewhere else - along with the big price difference.
And I also wouldn't recommend the bottom BMW's or Mercedes, because if you're that worried about how people see you, then you 100% won't want those. People will turn up their nose at your "cheapest BMW or Mercedes they make"
The whole point of my initial comment was that I think it's silly to base your car purchase based solely on what others think. How about you just drive something that makes sense and you enjoy? If it has a more "expensive" badge and it helps bring in some girls, then that's just a bonus. Shouldn't be the end all, be all. Seems immature actually.
