16 ILX bulb replacements

Hi everyone,

I'm sure some of you have experience with swapping out some of the stock bulbs on the 16 ILX.

I'm planning on swapping on the following bulbs:
1.) Interior - front
2.) Interior - rear
3.) Glove Compartment
4.) Fog lights
5.) License Plate bulbs
6.) Light inside the trunk

I'm thinking of going for an LED with a whiter color for # 1, 2, 3, 5, 6
I'm thinking of going for a more amber or yellow color for the fog lights

1.) Do you have have any info on where I can get the bulbs?
2.) What are the part numbers you guys used?
3.) What brands do you recommend?

1.) Interior - front - Good luck with this, they are soldered onto the PCB that controls the garage opener and other buttons.
2.) Interior - rear - Easy replacement (My girlfriend actually purchased an LED kit for interior replacement off of Amazon. Not sure which she bought, but they were supposed to work for front as well, but obviously didn't. I did replace the rear one and that was no issue at all)

The rest the other guys know and you might be able to search for it in the forums, because some of these have been answered already.

I did the interior rear, license plate bulbs, and fog lights. I like the results. As mentioned, the front interior lights are not worth doing.

just read the last part...

I got my bulbs on amazon.

these are the license plate and I believe rear interior bulbs. They fit my land rover too, although I ran out because that thing has about a thousand bulbs in it. They're probably the trunk and glovebox, although I can't swear to it.

H11 bulbs for the fog lights - I didn't see enough difference between halogen and LED to justify the price difference, so I just got halogens.

1. The front interior map lights are soldered LED, i don't recommend replacing them.
2. The rear interior dome light is T10 (194). To keep the same color temp as front, I use Philips Xtreme Vision 360 LED T10 4000K.
3. Already LED.
4. Several options5. Same type of bulb as rear interior (T10 or 194), but I use Philips 6000K
6. T10 or 194. Same as #5

Other bulbs to consider...
1. Rear turn signal - 7440 (for brighter/sharper signal)
2. Back up lights - T16 or 921
3. Foot light - T5 or 74 (I use blue leds)

Eugeneymich, are you referring to each light directly under the driver and passenger? How do you go about changing these? Is it plug and play? Thank you.

Yes it is plug and play. For the passenger side, you first have to take the under cover out and replace the bulb (see below diagram). There is no undercover for the driver, so its more straightforward. If I remember correctly, the bulb fits rather tightly, so make sure you get the right size bulb (not the oversized ones). The left is the original and the right is the led.

Do you have a picture of the rear interior dome light compared to the front? I just want to make sure I get the right color temp to match the front LEDs.

Thanks.

oh by the way, word to the wise, halogen bulbs have no polarity, but LEDs do, so if you plug your LEDs in and they don't light up, just turn then 180deg and they'll work. I found that out the hard way.
