If you really hate wires get the Yamaha 1 speaker virtual surround system. You know, the one with 41 micro drivers. Not cheap though.

But again, all of the "wireless" HTIB that I know of are only for the rears. There are two different technologies for this; IR and RF I think.

Sony, Samsung, LG, and Panasonic offer wireless rear speaker HTIBs. And they dont necessarily suck as opposed to their wired counterparts.

^ This is what I have heard/read as well, and is why we have stayed far away from it. Also, as was mentioned, the only systems I found were rear wireless only...

Polk Audio makes a good one as well.

Good post. My rears would be in the middle of the room and I have laminate flooring so I can't run cable through them. I guess ceiling cable then to hanging rears?

Do you have an unfinished basement below or an attic above the room? If you do, then you can run wires. I can help you figure out the best way if you need some help.

I'm in FL so no basements. My attic doesn't go into that room. I think I'd just go wireless and go all out in my next house.

I'm looking at this Samsung HTIB for $305.

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-HT-X70...318342&sr=1-11

It got good reviews at cNet and I don't need much, more of a videophile than an audiophile. Samsung also has a wireless module for the rear speakers for $100.

http://www.amazon.com/Samsung-SWA-30...7318560&sr=1-1

So the question is how much regular HD programming uses the rear speakers? Is it anything 5.1 or higher? And does the DVD upconvert sound to the rears for older movies? If I watch 95% of my TV off the satellite is it worth it to get the wireless rear module?
