What Universal Remote?

Currently searching for a Universal Remote. I want to be able to drive my TV/AVR/DVD/Tivo/and possibly a cable box from one unit. What do you guys have?

www.logitech.com/harmony

i have an 880 and had a 768 (no longer in production) and have given two 659s as gifts....I cant say enough great things about these remotes.

The main advantages are the web programing and the activitys (rather than macros)

Here is a good description of how it all works:

Damn, that's pretty cool. Even my wife could probably use that.

yeah i thought paying $180 was a lot for for my 768 until i paid $250 for my 880. they are a lot of money, but very worth it imho. You can get into a harmony for around $100 with the new ones they have released and if i were you i would pick one of those up. The technology behind all the remotes is the same and i think you will have everything you need with any of them.

Eclipse picked up some monster of a remote a few months ago. The thing is absolutely insane! I'm trying to think of the model...

I picked up an 880 from a merchant on pricegrabber. He is selling them for $177 shipped. He has a good rating so hopefully I get it

I see that Dell had a coupon for the 880 that would have let it go for about $161 shipped, but the coupon was expired

Thanks for the suggestions.

You are going to end up paying $750-1100 for one depending if you order online, buy in the store, and if you get the extra RF unit or not.

However, the TSU7000 is almost identical, and can be had from B&H for about $550 (steal!) or $625 with the RF box (even better!). We picked up a few of the kits at work as we use them in commercial installs where they can't afford to go with a Crestron-like system.

It's an amazing remote, and there is a whole world of info about it on the net. People have created unreal backgrounds/button layouts that you can download and customize for your own. The remote has some bugs in the software, but once you figure them out it's not so bad. The newer unit, 7500, adds some extened IR tweaking, but I havn't had any problems getting the 7000 to work with anything.

There is nothing like it IMO...

I still have one of these from Sony (mine has a lot more finger prints on it!):

I bought it about 3 years ago and it's worked great with everything I own. I'd like to move up to a fully colorized touchscreen model like those made by Crestron in the future.. Until I'm ready to cough up that much cash for a Crestron, I'm perfectly happy with my Sony.

This is totally off-topic, but this thread made me start looking for newer remotes and I accidentally came across this advertisement for the first remote control ever invented.. enjoy(it made me laugh):
