Wall receptacle for TVs. Does it need to be recessed?
I'm going to try and install a receptacle behind my new tv instead of utilizing cable management systems to hide the wires on the drywall.
The receptacle needs to have built-in surge protection. I know they're made like this. However, do I need to go with a recessed receptacle or would flush-mount work? Is there enough room for a plug to come out of a receptacle if it's not flush-mounted? Will I run into issues with it hitting the back of the TV.
I did not buy a super flush TV mount.

It depends on:
1) the shape of the back of your TV
2) the mounting bracket distance from the wall
3) where the outlet on the wall is located to the back of the tv/mounting bracket.
Usually there is enough room to plug in the TV without it interfering with the back of the TV.

I flush mounted a Leviton 5280 I believe.

It works fine for me other then the fact that I didn't account for the outlet being almost in the same spot as where my wall bracket tilt adjustment would be. The spacing between the wall and the back of the TV is enough that I am able to have the power cable bend right after the cables comes out of the molded plug. The mount you bought says 4 inches, so you should be fine.
For reference my mount is: http://www.amazon.com/Peerless-Unive...3786441&sr=8-1

Where do you see 4"?
The other thought I had.... I could put in a recessed receptacle behind the TV and then put the 5280 (what I picked up today) down where I was going to tie into. I could pick up the recessed after the surge receptacle.
But that leads to a potential issue.
I will be plugging all other components into:

So... Can I plug the tripplite unit into one of the Leviton outlets? Or am I asking for trouble? A surge protector into a surge protector?

Sorry for the delay.
If you are going to do:
line from circuit box ---- leviton 5280 ----- normal receptacle
that is fine as the 5280 allows for piggybacking other receptacles off of it surge protecting them also. then you are plugging the tv into the normal and the tripp lite /components into the 5280. should not be a problem. if you were piggy backing extension cords/2 power strips it would be though.
