So really thinking of getting a TV
So i have my mind on the Panasonic Plasma TC-P42GT25 to put in my bedroom
(figured id go with the 3D model since the regular G25 is $700 and the current price for the GT25 is like $750, MSRP is like 1700
)
but the 2011 models are coming out soon.
one thing i noticed is that the 2011 GT series wont come anymore in 42 inch
the only model that comes in 42 would be the new ST series.
what im not sure about is aside from price should i go with that newer ST series, it seems like id be losing a THX certified display, some inputs and conections.
not sure what else because panasonic doesnt really list it on their site, but im guessing customizations and settings.
so should i go with the 2010 model or wait out for the 2011 model.
also i think the 2011 models look nicer.

the difference between the 2010 GT and 2011 GT is that it no longer comes in 42 inch size. and i think infinite black panel 2 and the viera connect IPTV stuff. not really sure what else.
Don't need THX certified.
Inputs is a function of how many devices you have. I run everything through my receiver, so I only need one. Before I got the receiver, I had everything connected directly and needed three HDMI and one legacy.
Settings...depends how anal you are. I have a bunch, but I set them based on info on various websites and have left them there ever since. Had that info not been easily available, I'd have been happy changing nothing and leaving it as it came out of the box.
Always get the biggest TV you can, even if you think it's bigger than you need. You want 42 and can accommodate 42? Get 42; don't downsize.
Personal preference, but I'd rather have last year's top of the line for the same money as this year's base model. The only mitigating factor to this would be picture quality. Is the 2011 that much better than the 2010 (ie., did they significantly upgrade the panel). Still, if it were me, and I was happy with what I saw and read on the 2010, I'd just get it.

yea im thinking of just getting the 2010 GT series, i mean MSRP was like 1700 and the regular G25 was $1100.
not sure of the pricing on the newer ST class, but im sure it will be lower than the GT.
and i cant physically fit a 50" in my room, or at least the spot i will be putting my TV. 46" MIGHT fit, but i doubt it.
i think ive just talked myself into the 2010 42inch GT25.
now i just need to save up for one more month and hopefully prices stay the same or go even lower.

although kind of wished i gotten the 2011 models because of all the internet connectivity options, but im happy as hell with my TV.
love the picture quality
love it way more than the 46" samsung LED TV my mom picked up around black friday.
