/Rant - Advice

So I bought this tv last November for 2500 when it first came out...

Mitsubishi WD 57732

http://www.mitsubishi-tv.com/j/i/183...2.html?cid=382

This has been the second problem in 6 months

1st time the fan went out and the tv said it will shut off in a few seconds, and it did

Now it just gave another error message and shut off again, and I pretty heated. It has a 1 year mfg warranty and Im sure they will fix it, but I did not opt to get the extended warranty for 600 dollars, Thought it was too much for a tv of this cost

I want a different TV, I don't want to be facing the same crap wiith this tv after the warranty is up.

The guy who sold me the TV is a buddy and I hang out with him every now and then, we ride together (motorcycles) and stuff, but I don't want to offend him by comming in and demanding on switching the TV out...

Advice?

If you used your AMEX to buy it, they automatically extend your warranty my an additional year. So, if if screws up after the original warranty is up, they will refund your money for the TV.

If the aforementioned does apply to you, then you should politely ask your friend about if you can replace out the TV. Just be polite and professional about it.

If the guy is a good enough friend he may be able to return it for you. Work something out where you pay the shipping or something.

I did use my AMEX to buy the TV so that is great news. They give free in home service calls to find out what happened so that is my first step...

I also bought a proj. DLP in November, but plan on getting an extended warranty soon. There are a couple places where you can still buy a warranty, as long as you get it no later than 90 days left ont he manufacturer's warranty (which is 1 year for the Mitsu....so you have until Aug to get it). It'll run you about $300 for 5 year coverage.....at least that's what I'm planning on doing.

2 DLP's here and no problems. One is about 18-20 months old, the other is about 3 months old and zero problems with either of them. Both are Sammy's.

My neighbor has a Mitsu and has done nothing but complain about it which is why I stayed far away. Hopefully your AMEX coverage will take care of you...
