Question on Receiver Connections...
Soooo. i checked the back of my reciever its got two Optical inputs for the sa/CD player and dvd player. It's a sony receiver that was bundled with a 6.1 800w or 1000w system,
I was wonderin is there anyway for me to hook up optical for my dvd player and for my DVR? if im not mistaken, the only inputs for the sa/cd player is audio.
Also if i connect with HDMI cables from the DVR to the tv, do i just connect RCA's to the receiver to get the sound if i cant hook it up by fiber optics?

right now the DVR and the dvd player are hooked up through components, and fiber optics for the dvd player and just regular RCA stereo connection, i want fiber optics for the DVR too basically.. and for the HDMI4002M Monster HDMI does it get any cheaper than 80$?
If you want to utilize true surround sound, such as DTS and Dolby Digital, you will have to run either a digital coaxial cable or a optical cable to the receiver. I am not sure about the Sony HTIAB, but most receivers have an option in the menu to assign the audio inputs to various video inputs. I would suggest checking the manual or looking through the menu to see if you can do this.

Seriuosly, Monster is really no better then what doopstr is talking about. The price far exceeds other brands simply because of marketing. Same goes for Bose and products like that. Monster is not a bad brand, just very overpriced.
