PIP Problem

I am having a problem fixing the pip function on our Plasma TV with our Comcast Box. How do you use the function?

Our Vizio, when pip is on, can only use pip is the image is from another source; how do cable boxes use the pip function? when i try to use pip or press the picture in picture button on the given comcast remote, the box does nothing.

A Primitive solution i though was to get a splitter and split the cable before it goes to the cable box and hook the second wire to a VCR/DVD recorder and switch channels using that for the second input. However, the splitter might disrupt the signal for On Demand and regular channel switching.... Any thoughts or solutions?

Your cable box is your tuner.
PIP is using the TV's tuners.
Thus no PIP from one cable box source.

I think that only works with the DVR. The DVR has two tuners.

This is correct. We have two cable boxes in the house.... one is an HD-DVR, one is the regular HD box. Remote is the same on both, but the PIP only works on the DVR b/c it has two tuners as doopstr mentioned.

Sounds like you have a regular cable box...
