For that price I say go for it.

My only concern would be your TV watching habits. Watching basic cable on a TV that big, and on older technology like that set may not be that enjoyable. You should get an OK picture, but you'd get a much better picture out of a small CRT set. DVDs will look nice on that though...

Well I picked it up. $540 with the guy delivering it to my door. Thing looks brand new, & works fine. I'm moving & it's at the new place. It's not hooked up yet.
Any advice on setting it up? I have the Digital Video Essentials DVD. Setup my tube but I know this TV is very different.

I know my connections I'm using
Componet for my DVD
S video to my stereo
Audio to my stereo
Cable to the ant F connector
That's all I have.

You should be able to use that DVD to setup the TV in a similar way to your tube set. I'm curious to hear your feedback on the cable PQ since you're not going digital or HD with the cable....

Just an FYI I had the TV hooked into the basic cable & yeah the pic quailty isn't great, but it's still very watchable. The cable signal sucks also, I get gosts & noise on most channels. DVD's look great though!

I sold my 36" tube for $450 so the TV only cost me $90.

^ Not bad. And as long as the DVDs look great (which is what you said you pretty much only use it for anyway) then it sounds like a good deal to me!!
