New A/V Receiver Purchase Advice
Hey all,
I want to buy a new reciever for my home audio/video system but I'm not sure where to begin. Does anyone have a good review website or suggestions?
I'm looking for a receiver that is easier to use than the current one I have. I don't need a ton of features but would like it to have decent quality.
I currently havea 60" LCD Rear projection TV....a set of bose speakers (the ones with the two cubes on each side)....and a denon dvd player....
Thanks.

What sort of price range were you looking at? AVSforums.com is a good place to start. I have the Denon 3805, which is a solid performer. Not too many bells and whistles, which I don't like either.

I've got a Pioneer 7.1 VSX-815-K 100w per channel that runs 7 Atlantic Technology surrounds with a 10" sub
easy to operate and affordable with plenty of power for my needs

you want to look for
- watts per channel
- distortion ratio
- video input and output (i.e. HDMI input and output will cost an arm-and-a-leg)
- enought inputs and outputs for your gear

I second avsforums.com (I'm also perusing those forums right now!). I've got two Yamaha receivers and have been very happy with them. Other names that I considered were Denon, Onkyo, and HK.
Good luck!

Oh, and don't get too caught up on watts. Manufacturers tend to exaggerate that number to sell products and even an honest 50 watts per channel can get plenty loud unless you live in a basketball arena and are driving speakers with efficiency in the 70's.

Yahama is great, too. I had a Yamaha. My impression is Yahama is a great all-around performer, while I think Denon is better for movies, which I use my A/V receiver for more, rather than music, and Sony is good for music, but not so great for movies. Not a fan of Onkyo as I think the high are too tingy.
