New TV Advice

Looking to buy a 50" TV either LCD or Plasma. Prefer a name brand, would like the best resolution/picture quality. Features are not as important as long as it has 2 HDMI ports. Price limit is $1500.

Right now I am interested in this Tv (Samsung hpt5064), opinions?

That looks exactly like mine!

My husband and I bought ours almost two years ago and it's still going strong. It's a wise choice for a great price. We paid more than twice that!

We like samsung.

My only suggestion would be to go see the TV live in a store, and make sure that the store will put the TV on the type of content you typically watch. If all you get is SD, make sure the TV looks OK on SD channels. If it's HD you have, use the TV like you normally would and make sure it does what you need it to. How bright is the room you are putting the set into? Glare can be a problem on some sets due the high reflectivity of the screen. Do you use a game console at all? If so, make sure the set can handle the signal the way you want it to. Also, check out AVSForum.com to see what others have said about the set.

If you want the best resolution/picture, you should be looking at a 1080p capable set.
