Need a TV stand...

Going to mount the TV on the wall, but need something to store the following:

Receiver
BR Player
CD Player
HD DVR
Apple TV
VCR (maybe)

...And I'm going to put my center channel on the top of the stand. So I'd like it to be a bit taller than most, at least 27" tall.

Any good online stores? It needs to have doors that have knobs (kid proofed, so the little one can't get in)...

A couple examples:

Doesn't have knobs, but could work.

I know you don't like BB, but I got this stand...

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1177112314168

What I liked most was that it has a slot for your center channel speaker in the unit. Overall, it's a pretty nice unit. It's solid and looks good.

The center channel compartments are nice but I personally think you really need to have the TV on the stand to use them. I've watched movies at two people's houses that had their center speaker in the stand with the TV mounted up on the wall and I felt it made for an awkward viewing experience. YMMV.

I really like the ones that you can hang the tv onto without mounting it on the wall. I live in an apt so that's pretty important for me. I'm going to be probably picking one up in a few weeks.

Because I've had my CD player for 10 years and it's a carousel that I paid a shitpot for back in the day.

Looking for something a bit better quality than Ikea, unless someone can show me it's not particle board...

Hit your local furniture stores. They should have nice stuff like that for <$1000

I'm not a fan of stuff like this that requires DIY assembly.

The ikea TV stand that we have in the basement is solid Pine. Holds up to 250 lbs.

I'm not the biggest Ikea fan either but they do have a few nice things.

Probably depends on how high above the stand the TV is mounted. If I mounted mine on the wall, it would most likely be at the same height it is now (on the stand). If it was much higher, I could see how that would be weird (TV up high, speaker down low).

Would it look dumb to have something like this, which is only 34" under a tv that is 50" wide and hanging on a wall?

I think it would look better to have whatever is under the TV be bigger.

Crap. I can't find anything that is somewhat reasonable and can hold more than 5 components.

Maybe that and a couple of similar pieces to compliment it?

Something with the legs I don't like. Why do the legs look like a different color than the rest of it? Other than that, I like it.

i think it could age quickly. Have you ever looked into the ones where it raises and lowers the tv?

Keep in mind, the TV is going on the wall, so weight is not an issue.

Sorry, I was referring to shelf component. Most shelf only hold about 25 lbs or so. If you got a beefy receiver or other component, that may be a problem. That shelf looks nice, does it fit the bill?

The one above is made by Hooker Furniture, which is excellent stuff. My receiver is close to 40lbs, so I'll put it on the bottom.

I think that will be the one we go with unless I find something else. I'm pretty tired of looking at TV stands.
