Is it me...

...or are there really no "deals" right now for large TVs? Thanksgiving and Christmas, you could find 55" and above, Samsung LEDs bundled with all the crap you want and don't want, for decent prices.

Now, even amazon doesn't carry the 8000 series 55" LED TV. Clearing out for the new models, perhaps?

I thought I read that inventories were way up, thus prices were going to come way down. Maybe I missed them all?

This is the time of year when all the new models come out. So I think you need to wait.

My Dad got the 55" 8000 Series Samsung LED for $2100 from amazon with the blu-ray player and 3D starter kit. Free delivery. He pulled the trigger in early December.

I've yet to see anything come close to that.

Best buy is still advertising the 8000 46" with the player and starter kit for $1899. It's in the paper today but I can't find it online. Trying to decide to pull the trigger on this for the bedroom. I don't know if I really need that much TV for the bedroom though.

I've found good deals on Panasonic 50" plasmas but 55" and up you're talking nearly double the price.

Two to three weeks prior to Superbowl are a good time to look for deals.

^^ Yup, in just a week or two, the sales should start again.

I think I'm going with another Panasonic G-series. I bought the 50" G10 a few months after it came out and have been very pleased (black levels haven't lightened).

The 50" G25 is improved and has more features than my G10 and it's priced $400 less than I paid for the G10.

I was toying with the idea of jumping up to a 55" Sammy but I can't justify an additional $800-1,000.

Love the Panny's, my 65" V10 has been great.

Any suggestions for 55"+ for around or less than $2,000?

I'm thinking our 50" Panny looks small in our new living room.

I was looking at reviews for the Panny S2 and it seems to get quite a lot of praise over on AVS. Any other suggestions?

For plasma, the 65" S2 is your best bet in that price range.

i'm leaning towards Samsung UN55B8000. I don't really care for the 3D capabilities, so 240Hz would be good for me. Anyone has this one?

There is a LG 55" LED for sale on passwird.com sold by tigerdirect. Price is $1400 shipped currently. That is roughly $700 BELOW my cost for that set.
