I'm needing some opinions. I'm going out I think this weekend to get a MacBook Pro and I am trying to get suggestions on whether or not the slightly higher processor speed is worth the extra $500. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that it isn't, but I was just wanting to check with others to see their thoughts.

Well, and you also get extra video capacity, 50GB more memory and something else. But just wonderin...

 

I always get the top model for the computer that is to be my main machine. Thats just me though.

 

It really depends on your purpose for the machine, I have a macbook core duo with 2gb ram and it's very fast, but I mostly use it for Word processing, internet, and some adobe Light room or photoshop, nothing too major to warrant the MbP, well until CS4 comes out with GPU based processing that is.

 

I just set up my sister's 2.4GHZ MBP and that machine was plenty snappy. Not sure if I could personally justify the extra $500.

Regardless, it's a great machine.
