MAC vs. ALL-IN-ONE PC?
Yep. I have a 22 here at work, but it's a "smidge" shorter than the 19s. I don't like that...
$1499 gets you a 2.66 Core2Duo, 4GB RAM, 640GB HD and a 24" screen, NVidia 9400M integrated graphics. $1799 gets you a faster processor and discrete graphics.
Where did you see this info? They literally *just* refreshed the entire iMac line on Tuesday, so I doubt they'll have anything new coming any time soon.

? iMac top of the line is @ 3.06. Do you have a link on the refresh?
to sarlacc, Apple supports gay marriage and gave $$ in opposition to Amendment 8 so think if you want to give your money to a company like that. My dad is a huge mac fan but also a huge right wing christian conservative, when he learned Apple was supporting gay marriage Holy shit did he flip out! He's seriously thinking of switching to PC just because of the gay marriage thing. That's how strongly he's against gay marriage, which he has the right to be. Personally I don't care either way but if you follow the Bible as closely as he does (and you do Caddy) you might want to think about that. The funny thing is, a theology student friend of mine, who is fundamentally sound in his beliefs, works the genius bar at the Apple Store!

Believe me, he gets his share and more from all of the other kids who work there, due to his Christian beliefs. I don't bug him about working at a place that opposed Prop. 8, because he openly voices his opinions, and stands up for them.
But, as of right now...I'm sticking to my Windows machine.
Just like you though, Caddy, I would love to own a MB.
I don't think the PC (Windows) can offer such an ease of use as the Mac can. iPhoto is such a great app to manage photos. Then making your own home movies in just minutes is awesome through iMovie. Since OS X is based on Unix you can find many open source (free) programs to do just about anything that you want. DVD ripping with handbrake or video playback through VLC is just great.
I'm not one who generally jumps on every cause and bandwagon. Some of the people I most highly respect are theologian friends of Christian colleges--like Westminster in California. They enjoy their Apple PC. It's a good product. Buying that product doesn't mean I endorse the views of those in upper management.
If I buy an Apple, yes, you could look at it like that. There are scores of major corporations that support the gay agenda and other causes I don't care for. The oil companies raise the price of oil if one of the sheiks farts in the middle east. I wish my $$ had the power to affect them. It doesn't.

Well it showed up 2 days late today but I like it a lot. For about 10 minutes I thought the screen was too big but now I really like it. The built in migration tool was great. It took all of the users/docs/applications from my old mac. I can't believe I don't need to reinstall applications.
My desk is much nicer without a crap load of wires running all over the place.
Besides the fact that this refurbished mac came in a plain white box it looks brand new.

1 yr warranty FTW.
I do not mess with windows, though I did have parallels runnings for a time to play with it, worked fine. I did set up my sis-in-laws macbook to dual boot. Its an older model black macbook and it dual boots and runs windows very well.
The only place you should ever buy a refurb from is direct from the mfg.

I got mine with 500gb internally, but they do offer much larger drives. I do occasionaly do video editing, but mainly photography. I also have over a terabyte in in external drives. I haven't come close to filling up the internal drive.

I do have a few proprietary programs that I already know won't work on iMAC so, I'll see about partitioning me a HD for that.
How cheap are the externals? And do you kow anything about a TV device that I can hook up on my MAC to get the TV? I have a TV Card in my current PC. I size it and use it occasionally while working.
I know they have a couple different brands. Apple is hush hush about their new stuff, but it was around this time last year when they brought this line out. Makes me wonder if a new line will be out in a month or so....with that feature included...
NOPE get the 24".... I have 2 of them on my mac, plus a wacom cintiq monitor tablet, (adding a 42" plasma soon for my video editing previews)

Hey man, thanks. Appreciate that.

Then, again for my normal Time Warp drive (time warp is apples propietary redundant back up programs for the main hard drive) I just use a 500gb iomega drive I got for $100 bucks 2 years ago.
For TV....a 3rd party company makes EyeTV, which allows you to watch TV on your computer...or you can just get a slingbox.
Externals can cheap as dirt or expensive. Depends on what you need or want. I have switched to using a system called Drobo....drobo.com. I need redundancy in my external storage I can't afford to lose info when a hard drive takes a dump.

Difference between the SLingbox & the EyeTV? Sling you can probably record on right? Has a HD...?

). Who knew that damn Pythagoras and his theorem would come in handy in real life?
