I just ordered FIOS

I hope I didn't make a mistake...

They just wired up my neighborhood last month and it will be cheaper than the shitty cable/internet I have now so why not?

$80/mo for Internet and TV locked in for 2 yrs. After that its about $120/yr.

20mpbs/5mpbs Internet
Extreme HD TV Package 200+ channels.

Didnt get any premium channels, dont need it.

I literally just hit submit and it states they will be at my house tomorrow morning. Awesome.

GRATS!

I'm very happy with FiOS and haven't had a problem. Internet is great!
I got internet + TV + phone package.

FIOS was great for me. I really liked their DVR, and the HD was nice quality. Be careful when you're due to renew your contract, they changed my rates, and when I called to get them adjusted, they closed my account and opened a new one without telling me. I thought I was just going to get my rates adjusted. Knowing that I was going to have to cancel within a few months (to rent out my property), I thought I was going to get a better rate, but ended up having to fight higher rates and an early cancellation fee (which they finally decided to waive after several phone calls).

Do they have to install that "BOX" on the outside of the house? Or can I tell him to put it in the utility room?

Should I have him run COAX or Ethernet from that "BOX" to my PC, TV?

My setup has a box outside on the side of the house.
I have a "backup battery" in my garage.
I also have this box in my utility room in my basement that has my router/wireless router.
That box in the utility room is connected to every room that has an plug for either internet or phone....

i think it depends on your house... if you don't have a basement or a spare location where your utilities come into the house, then usually they will mount the box on the outside of your house... i have had FIOS for a month now and i love it...

mine is mounted in my utility room in my basement because that is exactly where all electricity/gas and water come into the house... and there is a big empty wall available for them to mount it on... from there, the COAX cable goes up to the internet router, main TV and phone box... they will then plug ethernet into the router to access and program your boxes and receivers...

any reason you didn't get the full package with phone???

Thanks.

Full package with phone was 99/mo vs. 80/mo with just TV and Internet. Also I use my cellphone for everything so a home phone would be a waste.

Interesting, my Fios was more expensive without the home phone

Yeah, add me to list. I now have tv,internet, phone and cell phone w/ them.
Internet is faster and more HD channels. One problem w/ a box that had old firmware, but that was fixed fairly quickly. So far, so good after a few days.

I've never been able to match this. It was right after UVerse was installed and before the filter was applied. I asked the installer to give me just a few seconds to capture this:

I don't know how to do the screen capture thing, but here are my results that I copy and pasted from Speakeasy:
Download Speed: 26053 kbps (3256.6 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 9633 kbps (1204.1 KB/sec transfer rate)

BOOOO!!!

I don't get why the Silicon Valley doesn't have FIOS yet. Is it because there isn't a high demand for it or because ATT doesn't want to roll out FIOS so they can promote their U-Verse plans?

I don't think Verizon will roll out FIOS where they aren't the local carrier.
