How high should a TV be mounted on a wall?

I know the rule of thumb when having the TV on a stand is to have the center of the TV set at eye level.

What about wall mounting?

6 inches above eye level?

Should it stay at eye level?

Thanks in advance .

PS: Not sure if it matters but I will be mounting a 46" Plasma about 8-9ft from the couch.

Depends on the type of mount you're using. If you get a tilting mount, you can mount it higher because you can tilt the TV down to a comfortable viewing angle. If its a fixed mount, you might want to look at mounting the TV a bit lower so you're viewing it more straight on.

When it comes right down to it though, it all depends on your personal comfort.

I mounted mine at eye level. I don't want to have to look up as I'm watching TV, it's more comfortable this way.

Eye level. It's a TV, not a mirror.
