This is somewhat related to a earlier thread I posted about "I think it's time to buy a new t.v.".

I was looking to buy a Samsung 58" plasma to replace a 56" Sony rp. Sunday morning I'm on the back patio looking through the Sunday ads, when I come upon a ad flyer for HHGregg. They are new to Florida, but some of you may already know of them. I see they have Samsung LCD's for sale and a 52" advertised for $3199 before $600 savings. Even though I was thinking plasma this piqued my interest, so the wife and child tagged along while we go to the other side of town. This store has been open about 2-3 weeks and are a stones throw to CC and BB, so there's plenty of competition. I see a LN52a750 as I get to the back and see it's listed for $3199, So I ask the salesman if $600 would be taken off that price. He checked and said no, that's for the LN52a650. He see my dejected look and asks what he could do to get me buy the 750 today. I say knock the price down to the 650 sale price. He laughs. I then tell him I can get the 750 online for $2574 at ButterflyPhoto.com. He questions that price, politely, and proceeds to look it up on the internet. There it was, just like I said. He excuses himself and goes for the manager. She comes up to me telling me all the reasons for buying out of a store vs. from internet only stores. I'm about to say yes, but not $625 worth of reasons when she says I'll let you have the 750 for the internet price of $2574....today...only. Well.....you could've knocked me over with a feather! That never happens at CC or BB, so I didn't see that coming. I don't know if that is how all HHGregg stores operate or this one is trying to build word of mouth, but I'm having the 750 delivered this Friday.

Anyway, thought I would share this.

 

This is why commissioned sales are better, the room to haggle. Up here we have a store called Future Shop (was bought by BB) however they kept their commissioned structure and it's great, everything is negotiable.

HHgregg is amazing, their sales associates know their stuff. Which one did you go to?

 

I think CC price matches 110% and BB was price matching the PS3 + $100 giftcard deal.

 

The one in Lakeland. It's newly opened, so I think that had alot to do with it. I didn't really try to haggle ( hate doing it and didn't think it would work for that much difference), I just made the comment it was cheaper online. After that they made the offer to match. Now I have to find a tv stand

 

Even though it may sound odd, take a visit to rooms to go and look at their entertainment system stuff (look online too), they have some great stuff.
