Help Wiring My Components

I have a LG 32LX1D LCD TV, Tivo Series 2, Sony DVD player with Component Outputs, and a Comcast CableCard, and an old-school VCR, all of which I would like connected. (No special audio considerations, for now).

What's the best way to do it? The Tivo does not have component outputs (not HD-compatible) so I'd like to run S-Video and Composite Audio to the TV. Can someone help me figure out how to wire this?

And, how does the Comcast Cablecard work? I realize it plugs into the TV, but is there a cable running from the Cablecard to the TV? Or to another device? Thanks for the help!

AFAIK, you just insert the cable into the TV - no cables connect to it.

How many inputs do you have on your TV?

The only problem I can see you running into is that you may not be able to easily record premium channels with your Tivo. You can connect your cable (coax) to both your TV and Tivo, so you can record analog channels, but that won't get your digital or pay channels.

Everything else should just connect into the appropriate input on your TV. You'll just have to select the correct input based on what you're watching. Should be pretty straight forward.

The cable card just plugs into the TV. No special connections to the tv needed, just plug your cable line into it.

For the rest of the stuff, just wire it up with whatever connections you've got. Send an s-video and RCAs for the tivo, and the dvd with component + rcas. That tv has two optical inputs, if your dvd has that you might want to use one of those.

i reccomend a reciever, especially if you even THINK you'll get more A/V equipment in the future

get one with 2-3 Component inputs, and component output

Not sure about where you are, but around here, the CableCards suck. Just the premise of them to me sucks. It gives you premium channels, but thats it. You do not get On Demand, you do not get the channel guide, you don't even get the info bar on the bottom (which to me is the greatest reason to get a cable box). Also, as mentioned, you will have much more limited use on your tivo. If I were you, I would definitely take that CableCard back and change it for a high definition cable box. You just get a lot more usage out of it.
