Exclamation Good deal on this TV?

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16889112027

SCEPTRE 40" 16:9 4.5ms 1080p LCD HDTV X400BV-FHD for $500 on newegg. I'm guessing they will run out sometime today so wanted to get some input from the pros.

I know it is not a high-end, well known brand such as Samsung, Sony, etc; I haven't really heard much about Sceptre but the price looks unbeatable. And I'm not looking for something super awesome either or looking to spend a shitload of money... I mainly just need something to replace my big 8 yr old box TV to watch a couple TV shows, sports, and regular DVDs (not blueray). So with that in mind, what is ya'lls input on this?

or :thumbsdow ?

Very low contrast ratio and 60hz seem to be the down sides for this set. But, its only $500, so that's a huge plus. I guess it depends on your intended usage. Regular TV shows and DVDs should look alright. Sports is where the 120hz sets shine. And you'll likely see ghosting if you play games on it.

I'd say, if this is going to temporary solution that will be relegated to bedroom duty in the not too distant future

If you're looking for a primary TV to keep around for years and years to come, save your money and get a better set.

I'd pay an extra $50-100 for a Sony or Samsung. Check out slickdeals.net, there are amazing deals being posted daily, especially with BING cash back.

I'd let this one pass.

I just pulled the trigger on the Samsung! Thanks for the info vas25tl! The order already had free shipping but the coupon code did knock $20 off the order. That was a great deal on a great TV imo and I definitely need a new TV so now I have a great one for years to come.

(This is impressive for me because about 3 times this past year I've been wanting to buy a TV and had something in my cart but never actually submitted it lol. I guess it's that fact that even though you want and kind of need this item, you just don't want to use the money, but looks like I finally got over that hurdle)

Thanks again

Congratulations!

I just bought a TV off Dell last month, it was a great experience. They brought the TV in, I plugged it in to make sure everything was great and they left.

They brought the TV in? Like people from Dell? Was that some special they were offering?

I believe they used a company called Pilot. It's just a shipping company. They will call you to set up a delivery time. They brought mine on a Saturday morning, the driver even called about 30 minutes prior to delivery to make sure I'm home.

Pilot is who delivered my HDTV I got last night. Called about 20-30 minutes beforehand to make sure. Once he got there, he was very helpful. Unpacked it and got it up to where I wanted it. Usually they will even have it plugged in and everything to make sure it works, but he said (as well as the delivery sheet) that if it has been in <50 degree conditions, you need to wait about 45 minutes to an hour before turning it on.

Good delivery though.

^There are ridiculous deals out there. I wanted to wait to get my 2nd lcd for the basement but I saw Dell had a 46" Sony Bravia 1080p for $799 with free shipping. I jumped on it and the price went to $1099 about 45 minutes after I placed my order

Do ya'll think a 40inch TV, in the box, would fit in my 3G TL? Back seat or trunk? I'm debating picking it up at the Pilot office since its 3 miles from my work right now and they still haven't fking called me to schedule a delivery date/time...

Call them and schedule it. I ended up calling. I don't know if it'll fit. Do the seats fold down?

I just called their customer service line and they said the truck with the TV on it just got to the local warehouse an hour ago and I'd probably get a call tomorrow . This is disappointing because when I got my order confirmation from Dell it said the estimated delivery date was today, and when I check a day later on Dell's website the estimated delivery date was this past Monday! What a bunch of ! I guess I got my hopes up of a really quick delivery...

And no the back seats don't fold down so I'm guessing it won't fit, I'll just wait for the delivery...

My delivery date was completely wrong on the site under order status every time I've ordered from Dell.

My g/f's roommates just picked up a new Samsung 46" or something sweet ass tv. It is really nice. I am probably going to buy one even though I don't watch too much tv.

TV looks/works awesome. I'm getting Digital TV installed on Thursday so until then I've only watched movies on it but they are excellent quality, so much better than my old TV. Can't wait to check out the HD channels!

I've been having a lot of fun watching HD channels/movies on my set ever since I got it a week or two ago.
