DirecTV Question

We just switched from Comcast to DirecTV. We have 1 HD-DVR box, another HD box, and 3 SD boxes. A friend just upgraded her boxes and gave us one of her old ones, an older DVR box. Can I unplug one of my SD boxes, take the card from it, and hook up the DVR box with my card? Do I have to pay extra for it even though I already have DVR service?

I consider myself very technically savvy, but I'm new to this whole satelite concept. It's much more complicated than regular cable.

You can not swap cards with boxes. But if you're already paying the DVR fee, you wouldn't have to pay that. You'd just be looking at the monthly box fee.

You can use the box you were given with no issues.
