55 inch Sony TV

I was looking for a 50 inch plasma or LCD , but today I found a great deal at best buy , I purchased a 55 inch Sony grandwega HDTV plus 250 4 year warranty , After reading some of the conditions of the service plan I am not sure if I should cancel it . Did you guys purchase a service plan ??

I have the 60" sxrd that I bought from belmont tv about 1 yr ago, at that time I did purchase the extended 4yr warranty which includes 1 lamp replacement.

my dad has bought an extended warranty on the older sony rptv and it did come in handy when we needed to have the tv recalibrated couple yrs later...

I would not keep that service plan unless it covers a bulb. Even then, you'll need for something else to go wrong since bulbs can be had for well under 200 online

I have purchased a lot of service plans from best buy ,most of them I have never used. The only time I had to use it was when my car cd player stop working , I had to wait about 2 months before I could get it back . The plan cover 1 bulb for the lifetime of the warranty .

I have only used the Best Buy service plan for my old laptop. They would have the computer for a minimum of 3 weeks each issue, and they would not fix the problem each time. They do not pay attention to the explanation of the problems, they do not troubleshoot. So I would stay away from their service plans. I'd rather look into what the manufacturers warranty covers and then see if purchasing on an AMEX still adds a year to that.
