Thanks for all the thoughts and comments!

I am so in with these floors. Giddy with the way they turned out. The photos do not do justice to the richness or luster.

My mom walking in the woods down at the bottom of our ravine. It was a gorgeous day yesterday.

We are almost finished. A few fire drills here at the end. Hoping like hell to get in on time. We have to be out of our apartment next Thursday. The builder has quite a knack for talking out of his ass, so I'm not entirely sure we'll make it. Last week we were told the trades are all way ahead, stop worrying. Today we're told they're behind and carpet upstairs has been pushed from Thursday to Friday or maybe even Monday. I'm so over this monkey!

Our location is amazing. We're less than 4.5 miles from the center of town and the nearest grocery store. It isn't a huge town (pop. 42K), but has been absorbed into the outer burbs of DC. We're 45 minutes from downtown DC.

sounds like Henry needs to get outa preggoville!

Things are looking great D! I was having a hard time envisioning those floors, but I think I love them! Thats a pretty wild design on the granite too, just make sure you keep up with the sealant so it doesnt stain.

Thanks, guys! Walshy, let me know when you decide. Will definitely keep up with the sealant, but would you believe quartzite is harder and more stain resistant than granite? I love this stuff.

Hey Scotty, anything specific? I know you guys are planning to build one. I'm heading out to meet another delivery truck this afternoon and the appraiser tomorrow...can grab some more pics.

Now the question is...

What kind of registers are you going to put on those beautiful floors?

We just switched a bunch of ours to stainless and they look MUUUUUCH better then the white.

Funny you should ask - I was just asking the builder about that yesterday morning. I went back this morning and they had put in standard brown to just blend. We have a lot of oil-rubbed bronze hardware in the house, so probably won't replace with stainless, but may do something a little prettier down the line. We had stainless in the kitchen of our old house, and it's amazing what a difference such a simple change makes.

It sure is. Of course paying ~$25 each for floor registers sucks. Lol

Went to Lowes the other day. Spent $300+ on registers, white wall plates, white switches and white outlets.... 300!! Bleh!

They were working on the kitchen backsplash when I was there. And the electrician was putting in the rest of the light fixtures.

The appliances are all still in the middle of the kitchen (except the fridge), so no pics until after the final inspections tomorrow when they'll be able to slide them into place. I guess they have to leave the gas line to the stove exposed.

After trades inspections and the appraisal (both scheduled for tomorrow), they just have some cosmetic touchups to do, then the carpet goes in upstairs as the very last thing. We. Are. Almost. There!

Yeah, they certainly aren't cheap!!

We are experiencing major spending fatigue right about now. Spent $300 on 2 friggin mirrors last night and are feeling pretty ready to stop bleeding cash!

Nothing specific, just standing on them and showing what the top and rails look like. And you're right, still looking for some ideas, although it'll be tough to convince my brother to do something different. He's not very adventurous when it comes to home remodeling, and I'm always coming up with different ideas :/

The price continues to rise on electrical hardware, yet the quality compared to ~10 years ago is half of what it was. Talking about Leviton, specifically. I installed so many of them back in the day that I can hardly believe what they sell today is made by the same company. I've already replaced a GFCI and 4-way switch that weren't even a year old

Thank you!

They are booking it the last couple of days - trying to get ready for inspections. The electricians didn't finish before the inspector came, so not sure when he's coming back. Hopefully tomorrow. The kitchen backsplash is finished, the plumbers are finished, they stained the stair rails and mantle today. Really, truly almost there!

No pics today because I didn't want to get in the way - just had to meet the appraiser. And the place is an absolute mess!

I don't really know yet. I just picked up a ton of paint samples and inspiration pamphlets last time we were at the hardware store. I'm excited to get to start fresh in a new house.

I'll do some soft blue in the master bath - probably on the wall with the window. Something that accents the tile and keeps it soothing and spa-like.

We just got new living room furniture that is deep chocolate brown. I need to select accent pillows that I like and kind of go from there in the living room.

The kitchen backsplash went in today - it's two-toned light blue glass..really cooled it off in there, so I may want to paint something warmer above the cabinets to re-balance it a little.

Looking forward to playing with color a bit.

I know right? When you walk through Lowes and see new products on an end cap and you get excited... Look out. You've officially been domesticated. Lol

I had to go back to the house to drop some things off, so managed to grab a pic of the nearly finished kitchen. They've got plywood down in there to protect the floor from the rolling appliances, so between that and the film on the appliances, it's still looking like a construction zone, but it's close. Oh, and there will be shades on the pendants of course.

Anywho...

Also, I forgot to post this one from yesterday...we finally have the shower doors installed. Love them!
