I would say this is well worth it so far.
yes it is more money, but you can buy them as accessories from dyson though

as far as the cord, the dyson i have, the cord is plenty long ; you can get the majority of the house (minus the very extremes), if you plug into the outlet at the bottom of the stairs
even then if you wanted to be a lazy f@ck, get a dedicated extension cord for the vacuum, and leave it connected to it (i "tie" the two ends of extension cords together so they do not pull apart on me)

and , it is (for the cheap vacuum) when you go over with a better quality vacuum, and it still picks up more shit

The intuition is based off of the progressive line and is a great vacuum. The vacuum does have a better cleaning power than a dyson if bags and filters are replaced timely. Attachments,Suction and the Panasonic/Lg build is where the Kenmore's shine. The Dyson would have been the better vac for the long term, no loss of suction, no clogs, no filters to replace etc. For the short, The kenmore Vac is great and offers features such as dirt sensors, vac light and many tools for the choosing. I would highly recommend to purchase the Sears warranty if you havent. The warranty will save you alot of money from future clogs. I have unclogged many kenmore's in the past for my customers, as they have a tendency to clog on the bottom left. Sears Warranty will as you may know, cover all cleanings of your vac.-Ex employee

We are thinking of getting the 5 year warranty for $75. Like you said it covers all cleanings AND i was told they replace the hepa filter that costs about $20. It picked up more stuff than our old bissell, but that was to be expected. It seems to be a well made unit and we are hoping it lasts for many years beyond the warranty.

Finally settled on and ordered the Dyson DC25 from Amazon.com. Probably not the best deal out there, but fast free shipping since I have Amazon Prime. The house is overdue for a vacuuming.

Hmm...if our local Bed Bath & Beyond has one in stock, I may have to cancel my Amazon order! I didn't consider this! I have thousands of those coupons!

The wife paid extra for something like that for the Dyson, we never took it in and have never changed a filter on it. Still runs like the day we bought it.

We've had the clutch in our Dyson replaced once since we bought it, about 6 years ago?

Cost was $65 for parts and labor, so that warranty would have been a near wash.

completely forgot about it, but that is also what we did on our dyson, with the 20% off (turns out to be like $80 or something quite significant)

most extended warrenties are a complete wash (shit my brothers laptop, the hard drive crapped out like a month after the extended warranty was over (3 year), so it was a complete waste of a warranty basically)

I picked up the DC25 at Bed Bath and Beyond. They charge sales tax AFTER the coupon (), so it ended up being $15 less than Amazon.com.

Unfortunately, I was too late to cancel my order. The rep told me to deny delivery and/or simply return it and they'll give me a full refund. Probably more trouble than $15, but I'm a cheap ass .

We have a Dyson DC17 that we had for a few years now. It is the best vacuum we ever had. It still performs like new. It is used daily to clean up dog hair.

Somehow we ended up with three dogs, and they love to shed.

If the hepa filters are $20 each and we normally replace them once a year, that right there will be worth it. They said i can take it in once per year to have it serviced/cleaned. I am a stickler with schedules and normally will be dead on so it may work for me.

I think the wife's getting a DC35 for her birthday to make it easy enough for her to do the stairs (we have three flights) that she doesn't ask me to do it every week.

That seems to hard to use for the stairs, I have a Dirt Devil similar to that, hate doing stairs with it. I use my Oreck for the stairs, it's so damn light.

I forgot to mention...the DC25 is sitting nicely in the hall closet. It has yet to be used.

It'll be used this weekend for sure...the place really needs a vacuuming.

I'll have to go check one out. Even if I end up using it, I want something easier than using the upright. Cordless would be ideal.

The hose on my Dyson reaches all my stairs. It does a better job on them than my Oreck did.

My wife will do stair by stair with the Dyson and the attachment hose, works great. That's the stairs from second to top floor of house. I use the Oreck from second floor to basement.

Mine doesn't quite reach -- I've got 9 ft. ceilings and the stairs end up being just a bit too tall for it to reach from the floor.

I used the DC25 for the second time today and I really like it. I'm not completely sure it has more suction than my old vacuum, but:

- Much easier to maneuver. I can get under furniture and beds a little more, and getting odd corners is easier. One of the walls in the master bedroom curves, and the DC25 will ride the curve no problem.

- Quieter. No much quieter, but enough to notice.

- Power cord does not get warm.

- Very easy to empty the collector bin.

I like it!
