Awesome!

Is that too pitched to consider beefing up the supports and making a deck on top and convert one of your windows into a door? I love decks.

Yeah it's too pitched to do that. The stuff that still needs to be done are roofing, siding, trim, paint, fans and beadboard. Should be done Friday with everything.

Great work, man...

Eff it, make it a deck...just warn people not to drink on it so they're sure footed.

Yes I put the entire structure up in a day.

I hired someone to do this. There were three guys yesterday who put the entire thing up in 8 hours.

Tons of progress today. They left at 830 so didn't get pics. Will post some in the morning. It looks awesome. Only have paint left to do and install the fans.

Just waiting on paint and the fans. I found a 39" TV at Costco for $350 which I think I'm going to buy. The mount I will get will be low profile when not in use but will extend, tilt and pan when needed.

Do you think we should paint the columns white? The ceiling will be painted white but not sure about the columns. I figured we could paint them and then add some crown/trim to the top/bottom to make them look like columns.

^Yes, paint them white. Adding crown/trim to the top and bottom would be a nice touch.

Nice progress Horny... I notice you have the roof vent fan too, how are you liking it? Is it auto or manual?

Are you talking about the roof vent on the main roof? If so, it is automatic. Mine needs to be replaced because one of the fins is loose and the fan wobbles. Still works but probably not as effective. It's connected to a box in the attic that I can set it to come on whenever the attic reaches a certain temp.

Everything is done except pressure washing the concrete, the tv and moving the furniture back which will happen this weekend. We've had rain in GA the past week so it took a while before everything could be painted. I also puttied the cracks in the columns from the settling so my wife is priming them once more and painting them this week while I am out of town.

What an absolutely gorgeous job. Looks like it was always part of the house. Welcome to South Florida where NOBODY takes that kinda pride in their work so nothing ever looks 100% like that.

Thanks! I think the guys did an amazing job. One other thing I plan to do is paint the concrete a brown color so all 3 slabs look the same. Traveling these two weeks so it will be a while before that's done.

Looks nice.

Columns need some bases and caps...that will be the finishing touch!

Just a little update. Pressure washed the concrete and put the furniture back. The couch is temporary but will probably get a cheap slipcover in a dark brown to match the other furniture. TV will be put up this week.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but are you going to put a lock on the TV or something? Also, how is it going to last with the heat/humidity/weather? Unless you are going to only bring the TV outside when you're out there...

I got the impression that if the TV took a dump, it was cheap enough that he'd just replace it in a few years.

Love the dog, not a fan of the couch outside idea. It kinda brings the sleek and clean and high class look down a bit...

Just my opinion.

The mount I purchased is very easy to remove. Just have to loosen two screws and the tv comes off. I'm buying a cheap tv but it's not going to be outside 24/7.

Yeah the blue couch is temporary. We are going to buy an outdoor set at some point.. Just have to find one that's worth buying. I just wanted something out there to sit on!

Ps you just made my wife's day because she hates the blue couch!

Dude, you guys have GREAT taste!
Love that, and it makes sense...I was thinking, this guy has good style...why would he have that ugly azz couch on his porch! lol.

Then I realized, it's football season...just need a place to sit!

This!

We are thinking of that couch or this set. I think both look great, but the set allows us to put the couch/chairs side by side if we need the extra space. With the couch it will just take up space, but I can lay down on the couch which is a plus to me.

might be the part mexican in my blood, but have you considered a nice little hammock setup for those afternoon (or after 8 beer, football) naps that you're probably worried about? You have many posts to choose from for mounting points.

Cute dog...I'm sure he'll get VERY cozy on your new couch! I agree too, the couch is nice, but the area might be slightly narrow for it.

We have a hammock setup in the upper left of my last posted picture. I'm sure the structure would support a hammock but we already have the stand. The dog loves to use the hammock too!
