Snowblower backfiring....
So i started the snowblower and it starts to backfire like a motha. The oil level is fine so i asked my old man what he did while i was on vacation. He told him he put the year old gas in there.
Whats my best bet here, run the blower till the gas is out or just drain it all out?

check the plug too,
drain and refill with new gas to see if the gas is the problem.
also check to see if there is an air filter, typically on yard machines, noone really checks these. it may be blocked

2 or 4 stroke engine?

I have a 4 stroke and it would not run unless the choke was on. I richend up the carb with the one screw that is on there and go it to run with the choke off until it was backfiring through the exhaust, then I leaned out the carb until it stopped backfiring but ran with the choke off.

Yea change the gas first. You can let it run itself out of gas, that will get all the old gas out of the carb or a combo of drain and run it out of gas. Then put the fresh stuff in and see how it runs.

When running it out of gas it won't hurt anything when it runs backfiring and let it run with the choke off.

Dry gas is used to remove condensation from gasoline. It is commonly used during the winter months to prevent water from getting into the engine.
