Snow Thrower / Removal

Finally bought a Craftsman from Sears this year. I'm so upset with the snow removal guy last year because he tried to charge me for jobs that he never did (removing snow from my driveway.)

Anybody had bad experience with snow removal people?

BTW, HomeDepot is bad because it doesn't take prepaid orders for snow throwers. It's first-come-first-serve, so you just have to wish yourself luck before you go visit the store if you want to get one. Of course you'd say I could call them ahead of time. However every time I called them, they just told me that "the next shipment will come in next Friday."

oh do we know!!!!!! 300' driveway on a hill. We finally got a brute of a snowblower. Had a smaller one before that would always break down. (forget the kind, got it at a small place)

The thing is, that even if you have someone come and clear your drive you end up shoveling anyway. We have a long walk too and no one really wants to shovel that much.

My husband always does the ends of the drives of the neighbors after the town comes by and buries everyone again. So I'm glad we got a giant.

But no snow yet please!

I just bought one from sears and picked it up this weekend. What one did you get? I bought the 5hp/24" model, can't go wrong for only $600. Seemed like it was betters than the ones at HomeDepot or Lowes.

I bought a 9HP/28" similar to this one:

I was going to get a 5HP, but I have put up a 6' fence along one side of my driveway. So I need something really powerful to throw the snow to a further distance. Also I still remember the wet snow we had a couple a years ago. That was the worst work-out I ever had.

Dhiren's just jealous cause he doesn't get days off for snow storms.

D, why don't you go head out to the Depot and pick up some more plywood to board up your house. I hear the wind blowing.

yeah the Hurricanes have us doing frantic fire drills to the hardware stores. We are lucky we have not been hit by one yet. Hopefully we wont. Yesterday was a terrible day though. It rained all day and all night. It was like the end of the world was coming. The sky was falling for sure. I kinda wish we did get snow days though.
