Cause its for espresso only there are other choices. Never heard of Nespresso

To be honest, it didn't matter when I started out...I'll probably catch some flak from the coffee lovers here, but I always felt that if I made an americano with the Nespresso, I could compensate for the lack of amount a cup of expresso yields.

Luv, since you said you drink tea most every, have you ever seen the tea maker by Zarafina? That thing is pretty . My sister has one and it's pretty nifty. It makes a good cup of tea. And it looks pretty cool too if you ask me..

And also, dom: I'm not aware of any single-cup machines that make both coffee and expresso...?

Once you start paying some big bucks for the machines, you can have ones that make both espresso and coffee.

I'll have to look into that. I don't usually get too fancy with my tea. Just warm up a mug of water in the microwave and dump in a tea bag.

Oh neat...prices aren't super expensive either. The Saeco is a drip machine, right?

I found a slightly cheaper price locally but their prices are competitive. Its a good starting point for sure.

Yes, a drip machine.

You do know there's more caffeine in tea than there is in coffee......right?

I have the "Philips Senseo" at work that my secretary uses most. It's OK, I guess....

But I stick with my favorite Israeli instant coffee...Not so strong, but I love the taste..

100% Pure Coffee.

Kosher Parve under the supervision of Safed Rabbinate.

Net Weight: 200g / 6.8 oz.

Nothing says "Israel" like classic Elite powdered instant coffee. Many an Israeli will turn his nose at the more expensive "Platinum" blends, and when they find themselves overseas, many yearn for the "taste of home" - Elite instant coffee!

Yup. I think you can get them for about 80 or 90 bucks now. You can do bag or loose leaf, and all types of tea. It's pretty cool.

I got Dan a Tassimo for Christmas. It's REALLY fast. He has a machine at work and says ours at home is much better, faster, and looks slightly different...so his office must have the last model that was out. It becomes expensive if you want to use it a few times a day, every day though.

I don't drink coffee, so I thought it would be nice for Dan since he wasn't using our regular 8 cup brewer at all. We haven't had any issues with it, but we've only had it since November. It was extremely reasonably priced to purchase, but again, the discs can be pretty pricey over time, especially if you plan on having more than a cup or two per day.

How much does it work out to...? Because, for Nespresso, it's about $0.58 a cup (of expresso)...

Cheaper than the Nespresso system...mind you, I'm not a regular drinker, I may have a cup once/twice a week (and right now, it is usually purchased from Starbucks or similar).

This is why purchasing a single-cup machine appeals to me...

I use a Bialetti Brikka every morning. It's a single serving of goodness with 1/4 cup of milk and 2 sugars.

2- Slightly Bigger water tank
3- Slight physical differences
4- Quiet Brew "technology"
If you live with someone who sleeps when you might be brewing a cup, don't underestimate the value of the Quiet Brew feature. I know this because I suffer from it.

Ack...it's that loud without it...?

I better check if the Breville Keurig model has the "Quiet Brew" feature then...

I don't know how quiet the Platinum is, but the Special Edition that's sitting on my kitchen counter makes a loud vibration twice when brewing a cup. It wakes me up in the bedroom above the kitchen.

The Keurig is quiet except when it pumping water from the resevoir into the machine. But even that isnt loud and only takes a few seconds after each cup is made.

Just looked up some info on the two, and it is significantly quieter while brewing, but it still has the loud pump noise at the beginning and end of the cycle. Somebody posted a video of the two machines.

I have 2 Keurig machines, one in my office and one at home. I first bought the 150 dollar version for my office. The thing made to much racket. So I bought the 200 dollar version with the quite technology, which made a big difference. It get’s used by a lot of people in the office. I told them just buy your own coffee and you can use the machine. It brews about 25 cups and day and has zero issues. Keep in mind it’s been doing this for 6 months now.

The 150 dollar one now sits in my kitchen and gets used heavily by the wife and friends that come over. I get my coffee from Bed Bath & Beyond, but Keurigs site has like over 200 different types of coffee, 50 types of tea and a small selection of hot coco.

Hmmm...I guess the Keurig machines are the winners then. And yeah, just read that the Breville model has the "Quiet" tech as the B70...

Well, much like Tassimo they retain the rights to use several different coffee people.

They have some very good coffees in their line up. Check out the keurig site to see the full list, because retail stores don't really have much of the variety.
When you buy one it should with a sample pack of about 10 different ones.

You can also get the My K Cup so you can brew your own coffees not found in their line up. HUGE advantage to the Keurig.

Yeah, I looked at their lineup and other than Van Houtte coffee (which is kinda meh to me from drinking at my old job), I don't really recognize the rest (yeah, I just know of Second Cup, Starbucks, Tim Horton's)...Hence, my question to how you enjoy the taste of their coffee.

So, do you use the K Cup often to brew your own ground beans...?

That's the major thing Tassimo has over Keurig (or did when I bought it). The discs tell the machine what program to run (temp and quantity), so it can do teas, espresso, stronger/weaker coffees of different sizes and real milk (not really steamed, though) cappucino and latte.

The "roll your own" k-cup is a great feature that Tassimo doesn't have.

Not that I know of off the top of my head. When my mother bought one for my sister the christmas before last, I'm almost positive she bought it online.

Your best bet though if I store was to have one would probably be

1) Bed Bath and Beyond since they sell things similar like the coffee machines
2) Some specialty store; maybe even just a flat out specialty tea store.

Other than that, I can't say I would know of any other places that would sell 'em. I highly doubt Williams and Sonoma or Sur La Table would sell them as they are more straight cooking stuff.
