Mini Kegs

Beertender

Avanti Mini pub

Phillips Perfect draft

Looking to pick one up for a gift.

Anyone have one, or have any experiences with them?

Basically they are around $300 and use the 5Litre mini kegs.
Each has it's limitations.
Thoughts?

I got one in JC Penney a couple years ago for $70.

Two types -- the top tap, and bottom tap. Heineken uses the top tap, most others use the bottom tap.

These look much fancier than mine, but mines does the job.

Basically, it comes down to if he drinks heineken or not.

looks like buying the top tap will limit you to only heini, so going the other way may be better for beer diversity.

The Beertender is strictly for Heini only.

The Phillips I believe is a Becks product....and works with some of their beer line.

The Avanti claims it works with "any" 5 litre keg. It has a separate co2 cartridge port....thus it does not matter if it's a "gravity" pour keg or a "top" type like the Heini that has the co2 already "in the keg".

I bought a Heine mini keg last weekend for football. It came with its own tap for $20.

I like the beertender the best.

^^ I've purchased the Heine mini keg on it's own too...for a party. It worked out really well...even though Heine is not a fave of mine, the draught beer from the mini keg was excellent.

Pretty darn sweet. I prefer Beck's to Heine.

Just found this too http://www.perfectbeers.com/

One thing I question is how long is it before these 5 litre Kegs stop being made? Up here we used to have them for a few years, in all the major brews but they quickly disappered. Last year Heini came back with it, but I don't think the trend will last here at least.

we have probably 15 or 20 different brands of 5 lt. kegs here (almost all German brews) and have for 10 years or so...

dunno...but they have been around for quite some time around here....and there are quite a few...mostly imports.

If these "draught" machines take off...then I think they will be here to stay.

I was looking into them last year, but gave up since you can't get any good beers for them(none that I like anyway).
