Mi first casa
So the past few months have been pretty nuts in terms of life changes. She put a ring on it (HeyOoooooooo) and then we got our first home. The move was crazy since all of our belongings seemed to be all across south tx at relatives or in storage. Well we got it all in and were pretty happy with the new place. Here are some before pics when the previous owner lived in it. I'll get some current pics up later today when I get home from work so y'all can see the progress. The grass is green and all new paint and appliances

Here are some pics as of yesterday. It's feels like we have been working non stop but it's been fun. (sorry for the gay iPhone pics)
Here is a pic of the entry way. We have a few more of those turquoise frames that we are gonna hang up there and we painted the door longhorn orange. Hook em \m/
My little ladies room
Our 25% done office
Little ladies play room
The kitchen. We got all new appliances and are having the cabinets painted white or we might do it ourselves (figuring that out this weekend)
I think this might be the only pic of a inner door but they are all being painted with new brushed nickle knobs
New washer and dryer And we painted it light grey in here.
Hey OoOOoooOOOoo! I finally have a garage again. This is going to be the last project over the next few months. Filling holes and painting walls and floor.
And the living room. It's funny cause it's almost the same setup.
The dining room, which is covered in pictures and not decorated.
And the outside. A few sitting places and a mini fridge. I really like having a beer on this porch after work.
Over the next few months we will be finishing the light fixtures, fans, paint and outlet covers in each room, finish the kitchen, office, garage and bathrooms. I'll post those as they get completed.

Well it's coming up on 3 years of owning this house and we're finally starting to make some changes. It's taken us awhile since I was pretty worn out from my previous job to want to do anything when I got home besides relax.
2 weeks ago we upgraded all of the smoke detectors and thermostat to all Nest products. This week I'm working from home while our bathrooms get demo'd and rebuilt. In 2 weeks I'll start laying new laminate flooring throughout the rest of the home. Seems like a lot since we really haven't done much but it's been a long time coming.
I'll post some before and mid progress later today once te workers leave

Your old pictures don't work
I'm eager to see your various Nest products! We're thinking about making the swap later this year.

They aren't that bad. A good smoke detector is going to run you $60 anyway.
Problem is they all need changed.

Haha, yeah I stole those original pics and I guess they're gone now. I'll be able to post some tonight. We did 2 nest protects that are wired and then 2 best protects that are battery powered and then the 1 nest thermostat.
I was a little nervous after reading the horror stories of the protects going off randomly in the middle of the night but luckily non of that has happened to us.

Yea we've had this discussion before. You gotta remember you're in a weird minority here. Not a lot of people live in such a nice, large, new build.
I have three smoke detectors and one thermo. $550 and I'm done.

as long as you are good with turning the AC/Heat up/down when not using it, I dont see Nest saving you any $$$
if we leave the house (when the AC is on), we bump it up to 85degs, so the AC doesnt turn on...same when we go upstairs at night, we bump the AC down to temp that we want upstairs, and bump the AC on the main level up....
so to add to it, if you dont mind doing that and your shit is working just fine, $550 is stupid crazy to spend...

Yeah I would have kept everything as it was working but my stuff is all 20+ years old. I just feel a little better replacing them due to age and that we're automating the whole house' security, lights, etc.
I agree, $1000 is quite a pretty penny just to swap something that works already.

Heres some progress pics, they'll come back tomorrow to grout, finish the glass tile, install fixtures and new toilets.
Next week the garden tub will be refinished and magically become white again. The new counter tops for both baths will be in late next week and the frameless shower door should be here and installed week after next.
I can't wait to poop in my new toilets
