Mattress Sugestions

We have to replace our mattress because it is in the shape of a V now and it is killing my back.

Never really bought a mattress before and I know with foam this and memory that it would be a pain.

Any suggestions?

Novaform Comfortluxe from Costco.

There's usually a $150 off coupon every so often, I ordered mine online.

Might be a little too warm for the Houston climate though, but it's preference

I'm loving mine. It's the most firm foam mattress I've experienced, it feels like a regular mattress without that excessive 'sinking-in' feeling of most foam mattresses

Yes- lie down for 10-15 minutes on any mattress you're considering to see if it is comfortable. If not, move on.

The pillowtops and memory foam mattresses are too warm for me + wife and the climate in SoCal, so we got standard mattresses.

We have a custom memory foam mattress. Custom...why?....Because there's a huge weight difference between Dan and I (Dan being a foot taller). That would mean something that felt nice to me would be way too soft and cause Dan to sink in, and something that felt comfortable to him would feel really hard to me.

By going the custom route, it cost us a lot more, but we were able to choose different density foam between the two halves of the bed, the quality of foam, breathability, layers, and thickness, etc, etc. Now Dan's side of the bed is the right firmness for his weight and comfort, and mine for me --- firmness was also suggested by weight range to help keep the spine straight.

Keep in mind that dust mites cannot live in foam, so that is another benefit for people who might have asthma or allergies.

We didn't buy a box spring -- we made one. That meant we could put all of our money towards the mattress.

If you are sinking into a foam mattress that much, that particular foam make-up is too soft for you.

A member here suggested isoform foam mattresses which stayed cool. I haven't tired it yet, but plan to order a new mattress from them when the house is done

I made a post a few months ago about a bed. I need one as well. And after hours of reading I'm leaning towards the isoform. I'm saving my money for 1 now. Should have it end of year. I'm just in shock how expensive beds can get.

My parents got me a new Tempurpedic bed, and it is one of the most relaxing and comfortable beds ive ever slept in =)... yea the price is around 1800-2000 dollars but i think its well worth the price. My parents also own the sleep number bed for themselves and now regret not getting the tempurpedic bed.. =)

Err, well yeah, a Sleep Numbers mattress is simply an air mattress. They suck. Might as well go to the camping supplies store and buy a Queen sized air mattress and pump.

Serta Perfect Sleeper Italiano Moon. If you like firm and sleep on your stomach like I do. Cost me a bit queen size, but it's sooo damn comfortable compared to my old one.

we just bought a King Simmons Beauty Rest mattress and it is very nice.

my wife prefers a softer mattress and I like firm, so we had a hard time finding one, but Mattress Giant allowed us to get a half-and-half mattress meaning each side is set at a different level of firmness

We ended up with a spring with foam mattress. I did not like the TemperPedic. After sleeping on it the first night my shoulder was killing me but I woke up this morning feeling perfect. They said it was going to take three weeks to break it in bt I hope to speed up the process!
