Long overdue pics of crib

Well I finally decided that the place isnt going to be picture worthy for a while so I might as well just post what I have

You can checkout my old thread "Help with houses" for stock pictures, but it was pretty much just a boring white-walled 2/2 with cheap fixtures. Now its a colorful 2/2 with semi-cheap fixtures

First off...here are silviagto's and I useful wagons And yes...even though mine is modded to hell, I still use it!

My bath (yes...I know theyre sideways) The kitty is Stellar (1 of 2)

My bedroom (ignore the plastic furniture and mess)
Accent wall is a dark silver and 3 walls plus bath is a light silver/blue

The living room (and roomate)
Was going for tan, but paint turned out yellosih ;/

View into kitchen

2/3 of lighting installed (plus fan)

The kitchen (my fav) Color is a strong orange/tan I freaking love this room

Hallway to bath and 2nd bedroom (not pictured...its pretty messy)

The balcony

The ride

Im proud to say I spend a total $2500 furnishing the place...$700 of which was my platform bed and matress I splurged on. Everything from the sofa to the light fixtures, silverware and paint are included.

I really need a large painting for the living room, but I can find that later. Hope you enjoy

Nice... I really like the orange in the kitchen... I've got to repaint my kitchen one of these days, but I don't know if I'm adventurous enough to go with something like orange... It looks great in your kitchen...

When I got my current house, I cheaped out on funiture too... you can add/replace stuff along the way...

Oh, did the guy on the couch come included in the price of the couch, or did you have to buy him separately

EDIT: You should hold a contest... Count how many cats are in these pictures One on the balcony, one on top of the fridge... etc...

Thanks

I was adamant about the orange, and Im glad I didnt give in to nay-sayers or my own fears. I wanted it to be a semi-retro with a natural and clean look. It ended up making the cheap cabinets and white appliances look very nice.

As far as counting cats...good luck: Two real ones, One on the wall, one on the balcony, lucky cat on the fridge, one cat mit on the wall. I like the kittahs

Please check the white balance on your camera and take new pics...cant get a sense of any colors because the colors of the camera are off.

Also...ya know...the first two pics inside are upside down...

Congrats on getting your place.

Yea...I knew the colors were off, but like I said I just wanted to finally get some pics posted. Theres still stuff that needs to be done, then Ill take nicer ones. I couldve tried, tho

You can check out my other thread for specs and details, but I paid $121,000. Its in FL so prices are a bit cheaper..but this place was still a deal. Similar places in similar areas are going for $150+

Nice... I was waiting for updated pics!!

Love the colors. Funny how they always look different on the wall then what you imagined... we've had that problem a few times . But honestly I think everything looks great. I like the colors and it looks like you've made yourself at home very quickly!!

Not that particular night...but as you can see, my week-old bottle is being heavily used by myself and visitors.

^ FWIW, we had a townhouse before we moved to NC and it felt just like a regular house. I was dead set against getting a middle unit b/c I wanted windows on the side like a regular house, but we couldn't afford an end... so we got a middle. The middle unit was almost as bright as the end unit b/c of the amount of windows and skylights we had. It was great (and it was nice b/c I was insulated in the winter on both sides ).

As for noise, like I said, it was like we lived in a house. We never heard anyone, and neither of my neighbors ever heard me... and there were many times I had the TV/Home Audio cranked (sub was in the corner against a shared wall) as well as parties or people over watching Yankee games and no one ever heard a thing.

FYR, we had a 3 level townhouse with a walkout basement (so 4 levels I guess) and it was 2602 square feet total. Not sure what kind of townhome you're looking at, but just wanted to give you that info so you can use it for comparison purposes.

They way they pack these detached homes together these days (At least in the big cities), you dont get much light coming in through the side windows anyways.

...And "shadowed" from the sun in the summer. Our end unit is hot as hell now, since the exposed side is on the south, so the sun points at it all day. But our next door neighbor's isn't as bad, and we have the same a/c unit. But it's nice having the sun in winter, since if it's sunny and above 30 degrees, the heat won't even come on during the day.

The back half of the unit gets zero natural light but the rooms I care about (my bedroom and living room) get tons.

The place is small (less than 1000 sqft) but its perfect for me. I was hung up on getting a big place with my garage, etc etc. But when it came down to it I needed a smaller place so I could 1) afford it 2) have to buy less stuff to fill it with 3) spend the least amount of money on maintaining it.

Essentially Id rather grab a place I can easily rent out in 5+ years and afford easily. My dream home will come next. I can wait on the garage and space until then.

From my experience I've noticed that in communities like that you typically get more of a return on your investment with the smaller units.

In NY, our unit was the 2nd smallest unit at 2600 sq ft (including basement). The end units were the largest and ranged from 2800 sq ft to 3400 sq ft depending on their config, except they cost anywhere from $50k-$125k more then ours (base). When we sold, we made almost $200k in 20 months, whereas people selling the bigger units were only seeing gains of $100k-$150k in the same time frame b/c they paid quite a bit more in the beginning. And while we had one of the highest sell prices for an interior unit, the trend pretty much stayed the same as of when we left... middle unit owners (which are the smaller, less expensive base priced units) were seeing more profits then the end units in the resale market. Crazy, but hey... we didn't complain

Well I did some rearranging. Ill have to take updated pics tonight. I basically just swapped the couch around so that the longest piece is facing the TV and the smaller half is against the wall.

The results were awesome. It totally opened up the room. I also found some artwork for $20 a piece, so I grabbed 4.

God bless "free-style" on HGTV. Provided a bit of inspiration on a rainy Sunday
