Which kind of Mattress to buy

We are looking to get a King bed. Went shopping last weekend and saw a vareitya nd price range that had me pretty confused.. The same shit sells in different joint under different names and a range of prices. Anyway we narrowed down to 2 mattresses that we would like to consider.

1) <Cant remember brand> but wasn't a big name brand either. 10" Memory foam mattress with 10 years warranty. It is afully memory foam, not the cheap ones which have 5" regular foam with 3

2) King Koil matteress. Basically a coil mattress with .75 - 1" memory foam on top.

Although we like the memory foam mattress, not sure how the product would last in long term. Anyone who has had it for 2-3 years what has your experience been. Should I opt for the coil mattress instead of the memory foam.

My exp. with memory foam is that it is HOT. If you liketo be even moderately cool while you sleep (most people do), then you might not like the mem foam. I found it to be nowhere near breathable enough.

I went with a SpringAire king in their mid-firmness, pillow top, with the dual-singles boxspring. We had it in a double (purchased 2 years ago), and when we moved into a bigger place we bought the same mattress in a king size. Awesome mattress and SO comfortable.

Matresses are like sneakers; get what feels good to you.

We've had a king size memory foam mattress for 3 years and LOVE it. We don't know when our 75lb dog jumps onto the bed and it does feel cooler...although I think the sheets help with that. We've gotten some nice high thread count sets from Costco and love them.

First things first -
Do any of the people that will be sleeping on it have any back problems?

Also, do not get sold on the fact that you do not have to flip a mattress and buy one that has only one finished side you can sleep on. They do that just for cost savings then try and sell it as if you don't need to flip it ever. Any place that is trying to sell/do that you do not want to buy from...

Also newer spring designs are good, they don't fold when you sit on the edge of the bed,

You keep a mattress 7-10 years and use it for MANY hours, don't go cheap. And I myself would go to a custom mattress place and have one made the way I wanted it...

Also there are a few different types of "memory foam" there is CHEAP junk and then there is the nice stuff. Make sure you do your homework on the stuff. If you buy the wrong stuff it will cause you to be hot while your sleeping, it'll absorb moisture/sweat... it's just plain gross and nasty. Do your homework on the stuff!

I need a new bed REALLY bad. I am clueless!!! I have a cheap queen size now & I am never comfortable sleeping. My back & neck are always stiff & I toss all night cause I'm not comfortable. I went to some mattress places this weekend. I had no idea what to look for, or how a mattress is supposed to feel. And OMG!!! The prices!!!! I'm in shock! $1500 for a mattress? The cheapest mattress I could find was $559 & that was only the mattress. A box spring was another $200.

Are there any forums for mattress's? Or any good FAQ's on picking 1?

I got the Novaform Comfortluxe from Costco, it was on sale for $750, queen

I made the purchase after reading all the comments here:
http://www.werty.net/2005/05/novafor...-mattress.html

Mattress is great, very firm for a memory foam mattress (i was not a fan of the 'sinking in' feeling), try sleeping on a memory foam mattress for an entire night before making the purchase, some people are more sensitive to the warmth the mattress holds in.
