Hockeyman New House Projects Thread

Finally a homeowner at 31

Got a great interest rate so decided to take the plunge..

Life without roommates is great. Place isn't too large at 1603 sq/ft, but plenty of room for me.

I'll bump this thread when i start / finish various projects and upgrades around the place.

Loving the deck, which is Redwood

Welcome to the joy/hell of home ownership.
There are [rare] times where I miss having a smaller house, as much as I love our current house. But, having 3 kids & a dog, our old 2270 sq ft house (3/2.5) would've been tight.

It's been a minute! Got a few things done, so time for some updates.

Project #1 was getting my back gate motorized, previous owners had been manually opening and closing for years...i was tired of that after a week, and of course with bad weather it's no fun. Went with a Liftmaster RSL12UL, has battery backup for power outages, and can be opened and closed remotely through the MyQ app.

Project #2 was removing the big ass backyard tree that was dropping branches all over my carport.

Didn't take too many before photos, this first one is from Google street view when PO lived there, but gives a good size reference.

Project #3 is halfway done. Extended the carport over to the side yard. Will be laying down concrete in the next few weeks hopefully. It is 16 x 36 or so.

LOVE the house...
out of curiosity...looks like you can't lift the car up enough to get another car under or to work under it.
Also, where you're putting concrete, is that the only grass in the backyard? No dog?

Thanks!!

My garage ceiling is pretty short at 100", but I can get under there to work on stuff without issue. Fitting another car below, not possible at the moment, but maybe in the future once i put one of the Legend's on air ride.

The backyard has two grass sections currently. The left side where the shed is, that will be concreted. Not touching the right side, aside from the tree removal. No dogs.

You basically have the house I would want. Space for 100 shit boxes and a bedroom and a microwave.
Really digging your style. Probably living within your means too. Kudos for that. Must be the angle of the
picture, I pictured maybe Verne Troyer being able to do an oil change and that's about it...

I was spoiled in my last place...almost 11 foot ceilings!

Haha thanks! I'm always hunting for new shitboxes to buy, so the space comes in handy.

Next time i have a car raised to the top, will snap a photo. Also got a shop stool so i can roll around under there when I work. 1ft more of ceiling would be great, though...

No matter how big we are, we always want that extra 1 foot so don't feel badly.

I love that your house revolves around your passion for cars.

Awesome upgrades. Congrats on grabbing a lift. That definitely has to make life easier. Did you get the center jack lift for the 4 post as well?

Hock!!! great to see your progress. I remember meeting you and your father almost 15 yrs ago at one of Ethan's meets when you had the gold 2G TL. needless to say everyone has grown up and i feel old now. keep at it with those projects on the house and the cars. it's a good way to keep busy if you haven't already discovered.

Is that a moisture barrier that sits under the concrete once poured?
